Variable fin stack

A variable fin stack for cooling components in a chassis of a portable information handling system. The variable fin stack comprises a first array of fins coupled to a first conduit and a second array of fins coupled to a second conduit. When the chassis is in a compact configuration for use in a mobile mode, fins in the second array of fins are positioned between fins in the first array of fins and the chassis maintains a form factor. When the chassis is in an expanded configuration for use in a workstation mode, the second array of fins is withdrawn from the first array of fins and the increased surface area provides increased cooling of components operating at higher power levels.

A loop-type heat pipe includes an evaporator configured to vaporize an operating fluid, a condenser configured to condense the operating fluid, a liquid pipe configured to connect the evaporator and the condenser, a vapor pipe configured to connect the evaporator and the condenser, a porous body provided in the liquid pipe, and a vapor moving path provided at a part in the liquid pipe separately from the porous body and extending from the evaporator along a longitudinal direction of the liquid pipe, the operating fluid vaporized in the evaporator moving in the vapor moving path. The vapor moving path has a flow path in which the operating fluid vaporized in the evaporator flows and a wall part surrounding the flow path.

A flow distributor for a heat transfer device having a plurality of channels includes a sheath defining a plurality of distributor holes, each distributor hole configured to be in fluid communication with a respective channel inlet of each channel of the heat transfer device and an insert defining a plurality of fluid channels therein and a fluid inlet, each fluid channel in fluid communication with the fluid inlet. The insert is disposed within the sheath to seal the fluid channels with each fluid channel in fluid communication with a respective one of the distribution holes. The fluid inlet includes an inner inlet and an outer inlet radially outward from the inner inlet for mixing a fluid flow in the fluid inlet for evenly distributing fluid flow (e.g., a two phase flow) into the fluid channels of the insert and into each channel of the heat transfer device.

The method of construction of a wall heating panel and a wall heating panel consists in constructing an aluminium multi-channel collector, preferably with one phase transition channel, connecting it inseparably with vertical aluminium heating elements, arranging the heating elements in the grooves of a dry wall construction board, preferably magnesium, and filling the space between the grooves and the heating elements with elastic compound, and then applying paper—aluminium foil laminate onto the whole surface of the board. A wall heating panel consists of an aluminium collector (1) with stub pipes (2), inside the collector there are horizontal parallel phase transition channels (3) and a water channel (4), the phase transition channel (3) is inseparably connected with the vertical aluminium heating elements (5) which are inserted into the grooves of the dry wall construction board (6), spaces between the grooves and the heating elements are filled with elastic compound (7) and sealed with paper—aluminium foil laminate (8), whereas the top part of the collector (1) adjoins the bottom surface of the board (6).
