Heat transfer systems for nuclear reactor cores, and related systems
A system for transferring heat from a nuclear reactor comprises a nuclear reactor comprising a nuclear fuel and a reactor vessel surrounding the nuclear reactor and a heat transfer system surrounding the nuclear reactor. The heat transfer system comprises an inner wall surrounding the nuclear reactor vessel, first fins coupled to an outer surface of inner wall, an outer wall between the inner wall and a surrounding environment, and second fins coupled to an inner surface of the outer wall and extending in a volume between the outer surface of the inner wall and the inner surface of the outer wall, the outer surface of the inner wall and the first fins configured to transfer heat from the nuclear reactor core to the second fins and the inner surface of the outer wall by thermal radiation. The heat transfer system may be directly coupled to the nuclear reactor vessel, or may be coupled to an external reflector surrounding the nuclear reactor vessel. Related heat transfer systems and systems for selectively removing heat from a nuclear reactor are disclosed.
Diffuser integrated heat exchanger
A heat exchanger apparatus includes: spaced-apart peripheral walls extending between an inlet and an outlet, the peripheral walls collectively defining a flow channel which includes a diverging portion downstream of the inlet, in which a flow area is greater than a flow area at the inlet; a plurality of spaced-apart fins disposed in the flow channel, each of the fins having opposed side walls extending between an upstream leading edge and a downstream trailing edge, wherein the fins divide at least the diverging portion of the flow channel into a plurality of side-by-side flow passages; and a heat transfer structure disposed within at least one of the fins.
HEAT EXCHANGER
A heat exchanger 1 comprises a shell 2 which has in an interior thereof a heat exchange chamber 20 in which a gas to be cooled or an intermediate medium is filled, and performs heat exchange directly or indirectly between liquid hydrogen and the gas to be cooled, in the interior of the heat exchange chamber 20; a tray 23 which is provided in the interior of the heat exchange chamber 20 and receives a liquefied gas and a deposited substance F which are generated by the heat exchange in the interior of the heat exchange chamber 20; and a liquid discharge mechanism (flashboard 22, drain port 25, and drain pipe 26) which discharges the liquefied gas from the tray 23 in a state in which the deposited substance F is left in the tray 23.
Method and system for radial tubular heat exchangers
A method and a system for a heat exchanger assembly are provided. The heat exchanger assembly includes one or more arcuate heat exchanger segments each including an inlet header configured to extend circumferentially about a circumference of an inner surface of a fluid flow duct, and an outlet header configured to extend circumferentially about the fluid flow duct. The heat exchanger assembly also includes a first serpentine heat exchanger tube extending between the inlet header and the outlet header and including a series of flow path segments having a gradually changing direction defined by a bend radius of the tube such that a direction of flow through the serpentine heat exchanger tube reverses between the inlet and the outlet headers and a second serpentine heat exchanger tube extending between the inlet header and the outlet header, the second serpentine heat exchanger tube co-planar with the first serpentine heat exchanger tube.
HEAT EXCHANGER
A heat exchanger includes a cooling air conduit having multiple baffles, a hot air conduit having multiple passes through the cooling air conduit and forming multiple intersections with the baffles, and multiple perforations extending through the baffles. A cooling air flow passes through the baffles, rather than strictly between the baffles, and improves heat-transfer characteristics of the heat exchanger.
Flow control devices and methods for a once-through horizontal evaporator
Disclosed herein is a once-through evaporator comprising an inlet manifold; one or more inlet headers in fluid communication with the inlet manifold; one or more tube stacks, where each tube stack comprises one or more substantially horizontal evaporator tubes; the one or more tube stacks being in fluid communication with the one or more inlet headers; one or more outlet headers in fluid communication with one or more tube stacks; an outlet manifold in fluid communication with the one or more outlet headers; and a plurality of flow control devices to dynamically control the fluid flow to a respective inlet header.
Three-way heat exchanger system for auxiliary power unit
A heat exchanger system includes a core structure with an oil flow path configured to receive an oil flow. The heat exchanger system also includes a fuel flow path included in the core structure and configured to receive a fuel flow. The fuel flow path is coupled to the oil flow path to allow the fuel flow to receive heat from the oil flow in the oil flow path. Also, the heat exchanger system includes a supplemental airflow path defined at least partly by the core structure and configured to receive a supplemental airflow that receives heat from at least one of the oil flow and the fuel flow.

A heat exchange device and a refrigerant circulation system are disclosed. The heat exchange device includes a housing, defining a first air inlet and a first air outlet; wherein the first air inlet and the first air outlet are spaced apart along a first direction; and a first heat exchange component, arranged in the housing and comprising a plurality of heat exchange fins spaced apart along a second direction; wherein the first heat exchange component is arranged opposite to the first air inlet along a third direction; the second direction is perpendicular to the first direction, and the third direction is perpendicular to the first direction and the second direction.

A heat exchanger (10) is disclosed for providing heat exchange between fluids (24, 25), such as in a solar power plant (1), wherein said heat exchanger (10) comprises a first pipe connector (13) and a second pipe connector (14), and a pipe bundle (17) extending between the first and second pipe connectors (13, 14), wherein said pipes (17a-17n) of the pipe bundle (17) are configured to guide a second fluid (25), wherein said pipe bundle (17) is connected to the first and second pipe connectors (13, 14) at pipe connection points (16) so the inside of the pipes (17a-17n) of the pipe bundle (17) is in fluid communication with the cavities (15) of the first and second pipe connector (13, 14), and wherein pipes (17a-17n) of the pipe bundle (17) are arranged next to each other and extend together between the pipe connectors (13, 14) in a meandering manner providing a plurality of crests (20a, 20b) on the pipes (17a-17n) between the pipe connectors (13, 14), and so that crests (20) of pipes (17a-17n) of the pipe bundle (17) are arranged to extend into recesses (21) provided by one or more crests (20) on other pipes (17a-17n) of the pipe bundle (17).
HEAT EXCHANGER CHANNELS
A heat exchanger includes a heat exchanger body having a first end and a second end opposed to the first end along a flow axis. A plurality of flow channels is defined in the heat exchanger body extending axially with respect to the flow axis. A first set of the flow channels forms a first flow circuit and a second set of the flow channels forms a second flow circuit that is in fluid isolation from the first flow circuit. Each flow channel is fluidly isolated from the other flow channels. The flow channels all conform to a curvilinear profile.
