Variable fin stack

A variable fin stack for cooling components in a chassis of a portable information handling system. The variable fin stack comprises a first array of fins coupled to a first conduit and a second array of fins coupled to a second conduit. When the chassis is in a compact configuration for use in a mobile mode, fins in the second array of fins are positioned between fins in the first array of fins and the chassis maintains a form factor. When the chassis is in an expanded configuration for use in a workstation mode, the second array of fins is withdrawn from the first array of fins and the increased surface area provides increased cooling of components operating at higher power levels.

A fluid coil includes a tube bundle having a series of straight tubing runs and a series of return bends extending between and fluidically connecting ones of the straight tubing runs, an expansion header fluidically connected to at least some of the return bends and a polymeric material disposed in the expansion header. The polymeric material has an initial shape and is compressible to repeatedly expand and contract between a first volume in which water is present in the tube bundle and a second volume in which the water undergoes a phase change. Contraction of the polymeric material absorbs an increase in volume as the water undergoes the phase change to prevent stressing and rupture of the tube bundle and upon an opposite phase change, the polymeric material returns to its initial shape. The polymeric material can be a pressurizable bladder. A system and method to prevent the rupture of a tube bundle in a fluid coil are also disclosed.

An apparatus for manufacturing a heat exchanger for a vehicle has a plurality of cooling panels bonded to each other by pressing a cooling panel module where the plurality of cooling panels are stacked vertically, including: a fixing portion for supporting top and bottom ends of the cooling panel module; and a pair of elastic portions that are provided between the top or bottom end of the cooling panel module and the fixing portion, and are arranged symmetrically based on a top or bottom surface of the cooling panel module to compress the cooling panel module.

Conduits for cooling a hydrocarbon stream and processes for using same. The conduit can include a first inner wall defining a first bore, a second inner wall defining a second bore, and an outer wall disposed about the first and second inner walls. The conduit can also include an annular support wall connected to an inner surface of the outer wall. An end of the second inner wall and an end of the annular support wall can define a perimeter opening that can be in fluid communication with the second bore. An annular flexible ring can be bonded to the annular support wall and can flexibly contact the first inner wall. A substantially annular cavity can be disposed between the second inner and the outer walls and in fluid communication with the perimeter opening. A quench fluid introduction port can be configured to introduce a quench fluid into the cavity.

Heat exchanger comprising a stack of cells

A heat exchanger suitable to be used as a recuperator in a micro gas turbine including a stack of cells. Each of the cells includes a pair of mutually spaced-apart plates and layers including heat exchange elements arranged at the outer surfaces of the plates and between the plates. Each of the layers including heat exchange elements can include at least one discrete spatial component incorporating a number of elements. Both a supply header and a discharge header of the heat exchanger can be made of only two components at the position of the stack of cells. Compensating for heat expansion effects can be via a bellows-shaped pipe portion of a supply conduit.

Heat Dissipation Module and Connector

A heat dissipation module includes a plurality of heat dissipation units arranged along a longitudinal direction of the heat dissipation module. Each heat dissipation unit has a plurality of heat dissipation fins arranged at intervals along a transverse direction of the heat dissipation module. The heat dissipation fins of a first heat dissipation unit of a pair of adjacent heat dissipation units are each coupled with one of the heat dissipation fins of a second heat dissipation unit of the pair of adjacent heat dissipation units by a coupling structure. The heat dissipation fins of the first heat dissipation unit and the heat dissipation fins of the second heat dissipation unit are displaceable with respect to each other within a certain range.
