Safety mechanism for firearms
11578939 · 2023-02-14 · ·

A firearm with dual-acting safety mechanism in one embodiment includes a slide movably carried by a frame, hammer, sear operable to hold the hammer in and release it from a cocked position, and firing mechanism including a trigger and trigger bar which collectively operate to actuate the sear to release the hammer. The safety mechanism includes right and left actuator levers coupled together and cooperating with a safety rocker. The safety rocker is operably interfaced with the trigger bar and pivotably movable between two positions. Moving either actuation lever to activate the safety mechanism rotates the safety rocker which simultaneously both blocks the trigger bar from movement and displaces the trigger bar to disengage the sear which can no longer be actuated via a trigger pull. In one embodiment, the safety mechanism is further operable to lock the slide in the closed breech position when the safety is activated.

Two-stage, drop-in trigger assembly

A trigger assembly for a firearm is disclosed wherein the firearm includes a receiver, a safety selector and a hammer. The trigger assembly includes a trigger having a pivot axis, a front hook which is constructed and arranged to move with trigger rotation, a rear hook which is cooperatively arranged with the front hook and a spring which is positioned between the front hook and the rear hook. The front hook and the trigger are constructed and arranged relative to the safety selector and relative to the hammer in order to allow the hammer to be recocked from an upright position with the safety selector in a “SAFE” position. This particular construction provides a trigger assembly which is constructed and arranged as a two-stage, drop-in trigger assembly which is compliant with the European Standard for an M4/M16 (AR) platform.

Ammunition convertible firearm

A firearm as disclosures herein comprises a main receiver body, a barrel, a breech bolt structure, a buffer assembly, a trigger group assembly, a bolt catch and at least one of an auto-sear, a magazine adapter and a breech bolt anti-rotation structure. The main receiver body is preferably of a monolithic construction whereby the handguard and breech bolt carrying bore can be manufactured from a single piece of material. The auto-sear is tripped by engagement with a buffer of the buffer assembly. The magazine adapter has an exterior surface structure engaged with a mating interior surface structure of a magazine well space of the main receiver body. A distal end portion of the breech bolt anti-rotation structure is engageable by the buffer for limiting forward travel of the buffer when the barrel is detached from the main receiver body.
