IMPROVEMENTS IN AND RELATING TO A GUIDED WEAPON

Disclosed is an unmanned Aerial Vehicle, UAV, comprising a plurality of rotors, a camera and an explosive payload, wherein the UAV comprises a generally elongate body, and the camera and the payload are arranged substantially in-line within the body.

Sympathetically detonated self-centering explosive device

An explosive device includes a housing having an outer surface and defining an inner space; a plurality of primary liners arranged on the outer surface in a spaced pattern and having primary energetic material inwardly positioned in the housing relative to the primary liners; an initiation mechanism in the inner space for initiating the primary energetic material to drive the primary liners; and a plurality of additional liners positioned in the spaced pattern between the primary liners and having additional energetic material positioned in proximity to the primary energetic material such that the additional energetic material is sympathetically initiated by initiation of the primary energetic material. The device can find useful application in a military setting and also in the perforation of well casings in subterranean wells.

Projectiles

An assembly (2) for attachment to a projectile comprises a first part (4) and a second part (6) mounted for rotation relative to the first part (4) about an axis (A). There is an axial gap (G) between the first and second parts (4, 6). At least one plastically deformable element (34) is arranged within the gap (G) between the first and second parts (4, 6), the plastically deformable element (34) being such as to deform due to the closing of the axial gap (G) between the first and second parts (4, 6) during launch of the projectile.

Multi-charge munition suitable for defeating a concrete target consists of a detonatable array of hollow primary charges (14) of explosive supported laterally of a line of target penetration on which is disposed a secondary explosive charge (48). Simultaneous detonation of the primary charges in the array causes jet penetrators to be projected together towards the target which produce wide boreholes in concrete suitable for the subsequent emplacement and detonation of the secondary charge. The munition may be an aerially-deliverable bomb or submunition. In one preferred embodiment, the primary charges (14) are positioned in a convergent configuration behind a forwardly-tapered secondary charge (48). Detonation of the primary charges projects penetrators forwardly passed the sides of the secondary charge and thrusts the secondary charge into the borehole produced in the target by the penetrators.
