TOOLS FOR APPLYING TORQUE
Disclosed is a tool for applying torque to an object, the tool comprising: a frame for clamping to the object to which torque is to be applied, the frame comprising a pair of jaws with an adjustable separation therebetween, and an adjuster mechanism to adjust the separation between the jaws; at least one thruster disposed on opposite sides of an intended axis of rotation of the frame, respective thrusters providing thrust in opposite directions, so as to cooperate and generate torque on the frame; characterised in that a displaceable mass is provided within a barrel extending from at least one of said thrusters, which mass is displaced by the thruster upon actuation, so as to increase the recoil, and hence the torque, experienced by the frame upon actuation of the thruster.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR PROVIDING A PREDETERMINED PYROTECHNIC ENERGY OUTPUT
Summary
The present invention relates to a process for providing a predetermined pyrotechnic energy output, comprising a pyrotechnic material that pyrotechnically converts at a material-specific conversion temperature, and communicating heat to the pyrotechnic material to convert the pyrotechnic material at an ambient temperature of the pyrotechnic material that is less than the conversion temperature.
QUICK-BREAK DISCONNECT SWITCH
The present invention relates to a quick circuit breaker, that is, a switch with which an electrical circuit can be disconnected particularly quickly. Such switches are occasionally also referred to as pyrotechnic disconnect devices or as electrical interrupting switching elements. In particular, it is a quick circuit breaker (10) which comprises a current supply contact and a current discharge contact which are connected by a conductor (20) and in which the conductor (20) is guided through a separation chamber (12) and an expansion vessel (18) being provided in the separation chamber (12), the expansion vessel (18) being able to be expanded by an explosive charge. It is further about a method for emergency disconnection of a circuit.
SHAPED POWER CHARGE WITH INTEGRATED INITIATOR
A power charge for actuating a wellbore tool. Combustion of the power charge generates gas and corresponding gas pressure within the wellbore tool and the power charge and wellbore tool are configured for providing a path to an expansion chamber for the gas pressure. A body of the power charge may have the shape of a regular polygonal cylinder, thus defining flow-paths for the expanding gas. The power charge may include a cylinder of energetic material and an interior space formed within the energetic material and configured for receiving an igniter and/or ignition material. Ignition of the igniter or ignition material results in combustion of the power charge.
PYROTECHNIC ACTUATOR MECHANISM, SYRINGE AND IGNITER ASSEMBLY
A pyrotechnic actuator mechanism comprises a cover member which includes a first wall member which is opposed to a release portion of an ignition unit, and a second wall member which is connected thereto and which has a free end portion embedded in a fixing member. When an ignition charge contained in the ignition unit is combusted, then the cover member is moved in the propulsion direction so that a predetermined closed space is expanded in the propulsion direction of a piston, and the movement of the cover member is regulated so that a state, in which the free end portion of the second wall member is embedded in the fixing member, is maintained at a maximum propulsion position of the cover member. Accordingly, the residue, which is produced by the combustion of the ignition charge, is preferably suppressed from being discharged or emitted to the outside.
Mechanism For Rapid De-Coupling of Load Bearing Structures
A de-coupling mechanism includes a link slidably received in a link aperture of a bracket. A pin is slidably received in a pin bore of the link and a receiving bore of the bracket. A first block is connected to the bracket and includes an initiator receiving passage in communication with the pin bore. An initiator is positioned in the initiator receiving passage and retained against a connecting passage edge and oppositely contacts an end face of a cap connected to the first block. A second block connected to the bracket includes a longitudinal channel having a channel diameter larger than a pin diameter so the pin is freely displaceable into the longitudinal channel. An end face of a retaining cap is connected to a second block end wall. The retaining cap includes a stepped portion having a step diameter smaller than the channel diameter and the pin diameter.
Flying vehicle current interruption device
Provided is a current breaker for an aerial vehicle that can prevent occurrence of a minor collision of propellers or other components in operation with a person and can prevent occurrence of a deployment failure of a lift generating member at a crash of the aerial vehicle. A current breaker 100 for an aerial vehicle includes a rupture plate 23 that disconnects a current supply path 30 that electrically connects an electric device and an electric circuit, an igniter 10 that damages the rupture plate 23 by directly or indirectly applying a destructive force (heat and pressure) toward the current supply path 30 with respect to the rupture plate 23, and disconnects the current supply path 30 by the rupture plate 23 that has been damaged, and a controller 24 that drives the igniter 10 upon detection of an abnormality.
Very low power actuation devices
A munition including: a control surface actuation device including: an actuator having two or more pistons, each of the pistons being movable between an extended and retracted position, the retracted position resulting from an activation of each of the two or more pistons; and a movable rack having a pocket corresponding to each of the two or more pistons, each pocket being engageable with a corresponding portion of each of the two or more pistons, a distance between the pockets being different than a distance between the portions of the two or more pistons, such that activation of the portion into the corresponding pocket sequentially translates the rack; and a control surface operatively connected to the rack such that translation of the rack rotates the control surface.
Short term, autonomous, electrical power supply system
A short term, autonomous, electrical power supply system, particularly an emergency short term, autonomous, electrical power supply system. Said system comprises an actuator with an electrical motor (14), an electrical generator (15) for driving said electrical motor (14) of said actuator, a turbine (13) in driving engagement with said electrical generator (15), an generator (7) of combustible, fluidic energy, a fluid line (10) from said generator (7) to said turbine (13), a control unit (5), and an igniter (9) arranged inside said generator (7) and controlled by said control unit (5).
PROPELLING DEVICE
A propelling device is provided that is excellent in safety during storage and securely propels a propelling section during operation. A propelling device includes: a fixed section; a propelling section; a shape memory alloy placed between the fixed section and the propelling section; and a coupling member coupling the fixed section, the propelling section, and the shape memory alloy with each other, wherein the shape memory alloy is in a state of a compressed martensite phase, and the shape memory alloy is transformed from the state of the martensite phase to a state of an austenite phase, causing strain energy to be stored, and action of the strain energy is used to break at least part of the coupling member and also impart a propelling force to the propelling section, and action of the propelling force causes the propelling section to be propelled in a direction away from the fixed section.
