Ballistics system for determining the location of a round of ammunition

A system, associated with a round of ammunition, that enables a location of the round to be determined as a function of time, includes an antenna to receive a radio frequency (RF) signal, and output an electrical signal based on the RF signal. The system also includes a processor to execute instructions to receive the electrical signal from the antenna, and process the electrical signal to obtain network information that identifies a network address of a network device and a first time that the electrical signal was received. The system further includes a memory to store the network information to enable retrieval after the round is discharged from a firearm. The retrieval of the network information enables the network device to be identified based on the network address, and a proximate location of the round to be determined, at the first time, based on the location of the network device.

Conductive energy weapon ammunition

Ammunition for a conductive energy weapon. A receptacle includes a cavity accessible through each of a first opening in a first face of the receptacle, a second opening in the first face of the receptacle, a third opening in a second face of the receptacle and a fourth opening in a third face of the receptacle. A propellant unit is included within the cavity proximate the second opening and a projectile is included within the cavity proximate the second opening. A housing is coupled to at least the second face and the third face of the receptacle and is further configured to couple to the conductive energy weapon. The propellant unit releases a propellant into the cavity, in a direction substantially opposite the projectile's direction of flight, in response to a trigger pull of the conductive energy weapon, and the cavity directs the propellant in the projectile's direction of flight.

Ammunition cartridge

Ammunition cartridges for hunting big game with an AR15 rifle are provided while maintaining a size of the ammunition cartridge that permits multiple ammunition cartridges to be inserted into an AR15 rifle magazine in alternating side by side relation. Each cartridge has a rim diameter of 0.422 inches, extractor groove and a slight tapered main body base of 0.36°. In one embodiment, the main base body extends to form a cartridge with total length of 1.8 inches and nominal body taper of 0.020 inches to accept a bullet with a diameter of 0.400 inches. In other embodiments, the main body base extends to a shoulder and a neck to form a cartridge with a total length of 1.66 inches. The shoulder tapers to the neck at a 35° angle with a nominal body taper of 0.014 inches. These embodiments accept bullets with diameters of 0.277, 0.284 and 0.308 inches.

Token System for Use with Dedicated Rounds of Ammunition
20170322004 · 2017-11-09 · ·

A firearm cartridge with a specially-configured token disc added to its base. The token includes an outer section and a central strike plate. The strike plate includes a strike ball at its center. The presence of the token increases the effective length of the cartridge and thereby prevents the closure of the bolt of a conventional firearm. As a result, the inventive cartridge cannot be fired in a conventional firearm.

METHOD OF MAKING A TWO-PIECE PRIMER INSERT

The present invention provides a method of making a two piece primer insert comprising: an upper primer insert portion comprising an upper primer bottom surface, an upper primer aperture through the upper primer bottom surface; a substantially cylindrical coupling element extending away from the upper primer bottom surface, and an interior surface; a lower primer insert portion comprising a lower primer bottom surface opposite a lower primer top surface having a primer recess, a lower primer aperture through the lower primer bottom surface, and a flange adapted to receive a polymer overmolding that extends circumferentially about an outer edge of the lower primer top surface; and an insert joint that links and aligns the upper primer bottom surface and the lower primer bottom surface to form a primer insert.

Selectively Disabled Ammunition and Remote Ammunition Disabling System and Method of Use
20170261298 · 2017-09-14 · ·

The present invention provides an ammunition disabling system for selectively disabling ammunition that is operatively coupled to a selectively changeable material. In the operative state the material permits transmission of a percussive impact through the material for enabling firing of the ammunition; and in the deactivated state the material inhibits transmission of the percussion wave through the material for preventing firing of the ammunition. The ammunition disabling system includes an energy wave generator with an energy wave source that emits an energy wave at a frequency resonant a natural frequency of the material. When the ammunition with the material are exposed to the energy wave, the energy wave induces a response (physical and/or chemical) in the material that results in a mechanical change in the material from the operative state to the deactivated state by degrading the mechanical structure of the material.
