Vehicle and trailer frame measuring system
A measurement system for frames of heavy duty trucks and trailers does not require a dimensional reference database. A plurality of electronic targets are attached to selected target points on the frame. A position of the laser scanner from the selected target points is determined. Measurement data for additional targets is determined. The frame dimensions are then analyzed for defects that are greater than a pre-set tolerance. Measurements outside of a tolerance range can be flagged with contrasting color. The results of the frame analysis are shown on the user's screen, on the electronic target, and can be printed out or emailed for future inspection. The frame can be repaired while the targets and laser scanner are still deployed so that the measurement system can continue to display the status of the measurement points in real time and the success of the repairs can be confirmed.

The checking fixture for the steering knuckle can measure the position accuracy of each hole of the steering knuckle workpiece, and can detect whether the relative height of the flange plane of the workpiece relative to the X-direction locating points is qualified.

TIRE AND TIRE SENSOR
In an example, a vehicle tire includes a tread portion, a sidewall portion, and a sensor module for estimating one or more parameters of the tire. The sensor module includes a detector patch that includes one or more capacitors, each of which has an electrostatic capacity that is variable due to at least deformation of each capacitor. The sensor module also includes an electronics unit connected to each capacitor and configured to control the sensor module. The detector patch is adhered to an inside of at least one of the tread portion or the sidewall portion. At least one of the capacitors is located on the inside of the at least one of the tread portion or the sidewall portion. The electronics unit is configured to estimate at least one of the parameters based on the electrostatic capacity of each capacitor.

A vehicle wheel assembly position measurement apparatus measures, at each of at least three measurement positions in a circumferential direction, a distance in a vehicle width direction between each of plural measurement points located on a specified line that crosses a lateral surface of a tire section from an inner circumferential end to an outer circumferential end and a respective one of distance measuring instruments, calculates an approximate curve indicating a relationship between a position in an extending direction of the specified line and the distance of each of the measurement points at the respective measurement position, calculates a rotation center position of a wheel assembly from a specific position of the approximate curve at the measurement position, and calculates a height position of the wheel assembly relative to a vehicle body from the rotation center position and a height position of a specified portion of the vehicle body.
Assembly, adapter device, and method for measuring the height of a flange
The present disclosure provides an assembly, adapter device, and method that utilize a standard displacement gauge or the like, well known to those of ordinary skill in the art, to measure the height of a flange, such as a flange formed via bending a planar vehicle component with a given thickness and, thus, including a radius at the bottom interior of the flange. This assembly, adapter device, and method provide consistent measurements across components, operators, education and experience levels, etc. The adapter device is designed to engage the flange being measured in such a way that consistent engagement of the adapter device with the radius, and, thus, consistent engagement of the assembly with the flange, is provided for measurement.
