Cutting sharpness detection device
A detection arrangement for detecting a wear status of a chopping knife arrangement of a chopping device provided for processing a product flow, wherein the chopping device has a revolving chopping drum receiving the chopping knife arrangement and at least one shear bar which cooperates with the chopping knives, with a sensor arrangement which has a magnetic exciter arrangement and a flux conducting device magnetically coupled thereto. The sensor arrangement provides a pole arrangement which forms at least one magnetic pole with a pole surface for conducting magnetic flux, wherein at least a portion of the chopping knife passes the pole arrangement during a rotation of the chopping drum. A voltage induced when a chopping knife arrangement passes the sensor arrangement forms the measured magnetic value, which is used by the evaluation unit to determine the state of wear of the chopping knife arrangement.

Method of wheel calibration
In a method of determining a radius or diameter of a train wheel, a camera mounted on a train acquires first and second images (pictures) of first and second objects spaced along a path being traveled by the train. Matches are then determined between the first and second objects appearing in the first and second acquired images and representations (pictures) of the first and second objects appearing in prerecorded images included in a track database that include corresponding first and second geographical locations. A distance L traveled by the train between the first and second geographical locations is determined and a sum C of electrical pulses generated by an encoder coupled to the train wheel during travel of the train the distance L is determined. Based on the distance L and the sum C, a diameter or radius of the wheel is determined.

Multibend shape sensor
A multibend sensor comprises a reference strip having a first plurality of electrodes, wherein each of the first plurality of electrodes is adapted to receive a signal; a sliding strip having a second plurality of electrodes, wherein each of the second plurality of electrodes is adapted to transmit at least one signal, wherein the sliding strip moves with respect to the reference strip; and measurement circuitry adapted to process signals received by the first plurality of electrodes, wherein the processed signals provide information regarding the relative position of the sliding strip to the reference strip.
Forage harvester with a magnetic assebmly
A forage harvester comprising an edge sharpness detection device for detecting a degree of edge sharpness of a cutting mechanism. The cutting mechanism comminutes a stream of harvested material, with a material inflow area being defined where the cutting blades interact with the shear bar to comminute the harvested material. The edge sharpness detection device excites one or more magnetic circuits, with the respective magnetic circuit being closed by the respective cutting blade during rotation of the cutter drum once one of the cutting blades passes the magnetic assembly. The edge sharpness detection device detects the magnetic flux in the respective magnetic circuit and, based on a detected change, determines a degree of edge sharpness of the respective cutting blade. Further, the magnetic flux of the magnetic circuit may be guided lengthwise in the cutting blade at least along a longitudinal section of the respective cutting blade.

METHOD FOR CONTROLLING WHEEL DEFORMATION AND ASSOCIATED DEVICE AND SYSTEM
A method for controlling the deformation of a wheel includes obtaining, for multiple predefined angular positions on the wheel, a parameter characterizing an angular velocity of the wheel when the wheel is in contact with the running surface at each predefined angular position while the wheel is rolling on a running surface, and calculating a radius value of the wheel for each predefined angular position using the parameter characterizing the angular velocity obtained for that angular position.
