A system for vehicle navigation may include a processor including a circuitry and a memory. The memory may include instructions that when executed by the circuitry cause the processor to receive navigational information associated with the vehicle including an indicator of a location of the vehicle, and determine target navigational map segments to retrieve from a map database. The map database may include stored navigational map segments each corresponding to a real-world area. The determination of the target navigational map segments may be based on the indicator of vehicle location and on map segment connectivity information associated with the stored navigational map segments. The instructions may also cause the processor to initiate downloading of the target navigational map segments from the map database, and cause the vehicle to navigate along a target trajectory included in one or more of the target navigational map segments downloaded from the map database.

METHODS AND SYSTEMS TO FACILITATE PASSIVE RELOCALIZATION USING THREE-DIMENSIONAL MAPS

A method includes accessing map data of an area of a real environment, the map data comprising three-dimensional feature descriptors describing features visible in the real environment. A plurality of map packages are generated based on the map data, wherein each of the map packages (1) corresponds to a two-dimensional sub-area within the area of the real environment, and (2) comprises a subset of the three-dimensional feature descriptors describing features visible in the sub-area. A first sequence of the plurality of map packages are broadcast through one or more base stations, wherein the first sequence is based on the two-dimensional sub-area of each of the map packages, wherein each of the map packages is configured to be received and used by an artificial-reality device to determine a pose of the artificial-reality device in the associated sub-area based on the associated subset of the three-dimensional feature descriptors.

Information providing apparatus, information providing system, and non-transitory computer readable medium storing program

An information providing apparatus includes an acquisition section that acquires position information from a terminal device, a specifying section that specifies a target publication from plural publications on which maps have been posted, by performing processing with the position information, and a providing section that provides the terminal device with information indicating a correspondence relationship between a map posted on the target publication and a position indicated by the position information.

APPARATUS, METHOD, AND COMPUTER PROGRAM FOR COLLECTING FEATURE DATA

An apparatus for collecting feature data includes a memory configured to store map information including a probability distribution of reliability indicating how likely a feature related to travel of vehicles exists as a function of position; and one or more processors configured to store feature data indicating the position of the feature in the memory whenever receiving the feature data from any of one or more vehicles via a communication circuit, update the probability distribution of reliability indicating how likely the feature exists as a function of position, based on the position of the feature indicated by each of one or more pieces of received feature data, and transmit an instruction to stop collecting the feature data to the one or more vehicles via the communication circuit for a feature regarding which the extent of the updated probability distribution is not greater than a predetermined threshold.

CONTROLLED INGESTION OF MAP UPDATE DATA
20230023255 · 2023-01-26 · ·

An apparatus receives a plurality of instances of map update data during a time window. Each instance is associated with a respective geographic region of a plurality of defined geographic regions. The apparatus determines, for the time window, region rankings for the plurality of defined geographic regions. A region ranking is determined based on a volume measure, a measure of map update activity, a measure of inaccurate activity, a general priority weight, and/or an interest density corresponding to the respective geographic region. The apparatus determines, for the time window, respective ranking ranges for a plurality of data buckets and assigns respective instance rankings to the instances of map update data. The instances are assigned to data buckets based on the instance rankings and ranking ranges. The apparatus ingests the instances based on the respective data buckets to cause a digital map maintained by the apparatus to be updated.

Safety and comfort constraints for navigation

A navigational system for a host vehicle may comprise at least one processing device. The processing device may be programmed to receive a first output and a second output associated with the host vehicle; identify a representation of a target object in the first output; and determine whether a characteristic of the target object triggers a navigational constraint. If the navigational constraint is not triggered, the processing device may verify the identification of the representation of the target object based on a combination of the first output and the second output. If the navigational constraint is triggered, the processing device may verify the identification of the representation of the target object based on the first output; and in response to the verification, cause at least one navigational change to the host vehicle.

MAP MANAGEMENT SYSTEM AND MAP MANAGEMENT METHOD

A map management system stores map information used by an automated driving vehicle. The automated driving vehicle detects an obstacle based on the map information, or acquires a margin distance when stopping in front of an obstacle based on the map information. When requiring a remote operator's decision about an action with respect to the obstacle, the automated driving vehicle issues a support request that requests the remote operator to give support. The map management system acquires an operator instruction to the automated driving vehicle issued by the remote operator in response to the support request. The map management system estimates a type of the obstacle based on a state of acquisition of the operator instruction or a content of the operator instruction. Then, the map management system updates the map information according to the type of the obstacle.
