Automatic system for controlling appliances
09837817 · 2017-12-05 · ·

A system for managing house appliances supplied through a power grid is provided. Each house appliance operates according to at least one corresponding operative mode. Each operative mode comprises a sequence of operative phases. The system comprises at least one control unit interfaced with the house appliances for exchanging data. The at least one control unit collects power profile data comprising timing and electric power consumption data of each operative phase of each operative mode of the house appliances; generates a time schedule of the house appliances operations by distributing in time the execution of the operative phases thereof such that total power consumption of house appliances is kept under a maximum power threshold of the power grid; and controls the operation of the appliances based on the time schedule. The at least one control unit is configured to generate the time schedule by exploiting a Particle Swarm Optimization approach.

Methods and systems for providing fluid resources are disclosed. A system or method may comprise developing an accurate fluid resource need that allows for expedited true up of fluid resource deliver from resource suppliers to a utility provider. The system and methods for delivering a fluid resource may include calculating a regression line based on fluid resource usage, and an associated temperature during the usage period, and a forecasted temperature for a future time period when the fluid resource will needed. The regression line may be used to obtain the amount fluid resource needed from resource suppliers for deliver by a utility provider to customers.

A power management system comprises a plurality of HEMSs 10 and a CEMS 40. The CEMS 40 transmits, to each HEMS 10, a notification request for requesting a notification of an amount of power that can be reduced from power currently consumed by a load connected to each HEMS 10, in response to a power curtailment signal. Each HEMS 10 transmits, to the CEMS 40, reducible power information including the amount of power that can be reduced from the power currently consumed, in response to the notification request. The CEMS 40 transmits, to each HEMS 10, power reduction information including an amount of power that should be reduced in each consumer 70, in response to the power curtailment signal and the reducible power information.

A system for managing devices supplied through a power grid is proposed. Each device is configured to consume over time electric power according to at least one respective power profile when operating. The system comprises at least one unit interfaced with the devices for exchanging data. The at least one unit collects power profile data indicative of the power profiles of the devices, and generates a time schedule of the device operations by distributing over time start times of the power profiles in such a way that at any time the total power consumption of the devices is kept under a maximum power threshold of the power grid.

Controlling operation of power consuming devices in an electrical grid

The present invention generally relates to load control in an electrical grid (110). Operation of a power consuming device (125) in the electrical grid (110) is controlled. An ideal shiftable load of the electrical grid (110) is received or accessed. A probability distribution of starting time of the power consuming device (125) is determined based on the ideal shiftable load of the electrical grid (110). Then a starting time for the operation of the power consuming device (125) is determined in accordance with the probability distribution of starting time. An instruction is then sent to cause the power consuming device (125) to be started at the starting time.
