A system and related method for precisely monitoring fluid or gas flows, comprising: a flow meter comprising a mechanical metering component; the mechanical metering component comprising a ferrous material; a three-axis magnetic field sensor for sensing fluctuations of a magnetic field arising from movements of the ferrous material, and specifically, for sensing a magnetic field vector of the magnetic field; computer processing for receiving data from the magnetic field sensor and storing magnetic field behavior data representing time behavior of the magnetic field vector in three space dimensions; calibration programming for analyzing and learning a magnetic signature of the meter; programming for storing a unique calibration pattern of the magnetic signature representing baseline behaviors thereof; and comparison programming for comparing behaviors of the magnetic field during operation with the calibrated baseline behaviors and thereby deducing flows which are occurring during operation as a function of time under various conditions.

Method for adjusting the volumetric flow ratio of at least two different fluids (F1, F2) with a control-device. The control-device comprises a first chamber with a chamber-volume (V.sub.C1) for the first fluid (F1) and an inlet-element and an outlet-element for the first fluid (F1) and at least one rotating or nutating element. The control-device further comprises at least one second chamber with a chamber-volume (V.sub.C2) for the second fluid (F2), wherein the second chamber has an inlet-element and an outlet-element for the second fluid (F2) and at least one rotating or nutating element. The rotating or nutating elements are coupled so as to rotate or nutate at a defined rotational or nutational frequency ratio and are driven by the fluids (F1, F2). The chamber volume ratio (V.sub.C1:V.sub.C2) and the rotational or nutational frequency ratio are selected such that the fluids (F1, F2) flowing out of the outlet-elements have a predefined volumetric flow ratio. The input resistor (R.sub.i) of the respective inlet-element and the output resistor (R.sub.o) of the respective outlet-element of the first chamber and/or the second chamber are chosen so as to satisfy the equation: (I), wherein η.sub.F is the viscosity of the respective fluid (F1, F2) and Cn designates the respective chamber.

Volume fraction meter for multiphase fluid flow

A volume fraction meter that includes a flow meter coupled to a flow line. The flow line includes a turned portion and the flow meter is positioned upstream from the turned portion with respect to a flow direction. The flow meter is configured to measure a volumetric flow rate of a multiphase fluid flowing in the flow direction through the flow line. The flow line includes a nozzle opening downstream the turned portion. The volume fraction meter also includes a strain gauge coupled to the flow line between the flow meter and the turned portion of the flow line. The strain gauge is configured to measure a bending strain on the flow line upon discharge of the multiphase fluid through the nozzle opening, such that the bending strain and the volumetric flow-rate provide inputs for determining a mixture density of the multiphase fluid.
