The system comprises a wearable device operable to sense UV radiation levels to which the wearer is exposed, and to transmit UV radiation information. The system further comprises an external computing device in remote communication with the wearable device, operable to receive the UV radiation information from the wearable device and configured to determine the wearer's real-time UV index value and the wearer's daily cumulative percentage of minimal erythema dose based upon the UV radiation information.
OPTICAL CONTROL APPARATUS AND OPTICAL CONTROL METHOD
The optical control apparatus includes a light source, a light collecting section, and an optical path control section. The light source emits light. The light collecting section collects the light emitted from the light source and illuminates the light onto an object.
Laser Measurement Apparatus Having a Removable and Replaceable Beam Dump
The present application discloses an apparatus configured to measure characteristics of high power beams of laser energy used in material processing. In one embodiment, the apparatus includes a housing having a first compartment and a second compartment separated from each other to reduce the transfer of thermal energy between them. Optical modules having optical sensors configured to measure characteristics of the high power beam are mounted in the first compartment. An optical window operative to allow a significant portion of the beam to propagate therethrough is mounted in an intermediate housing member separating the first and second compartments. A removable and replaceable beam dump configured to absorb most of the high power beam is positioned in the second compartment. The removability/replaceability of the beam dump enables operation of the apparatus without active cooling of the beam dump assembly, simplifying the apparatus and protecting the optical sensors in the first compartment.
Optical module
A metal stem includes a cylindrical portion in which an FPC inserting portion is formed, and a base standing upright from one plane of the cylindrical portion. A tubular lens cap with one open end is fixed to a peripheral portion of the one plane of the cylindrical portion, and has a lens mounted on a bottomed portion. A substrate mounted on one plane of the base includes a signal wiring layer and a ground wiring layer. An optical semiconductor element is mounted on the substrate and has a signal terminal connected to the signal wiring layer of the substrate, and a ground terminal connected to the ground wiring layer of the substrate. An FPC substrate is disposed so as to pass through the FPC inserting portion and to face the one plane of the base. The FPC substrate includes a signal wiring layer connected to the signal wiring layer of the substrate with a metal wire.
CLAMPS FOR APPLYING AN IMMOBILIZING FORCE TO A PHOTODETECTOR, AND SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR USING THE SAME
Photodetector clamps are provided. Clamps of interest include one or more flexure arms for applying an immobilizing force to one or more photodetectors positioned within a light detection module, and are configured to be positioned on top of a detector block. In embodiments, the bottom of the one or more flexure arms include an opening for contacting the photodetector(s). Light detection modules, systems and methods employing the subject clamps are also provided.
GRAVITY-ENFORCED PHOTON MOMENTUM RADIOMETER AND MEASURING OPTICAL POWER
A gravity-enforced photon momentum radiometer incudes: a magnetic array; a diamagnetic shuttle that levitates above the magnetic array; a mirror on the diamagnetic shuttle that receives laser light and moves the diamagnetic shuttle due to the optical force; a tiltable platform for the magnetic array; a photogate producing gate light that can be blocked by a photo interrupter and that produces a detector signal that provides a position of the diamagnetic shuttle relative to the tiltable platform for determining a position of the diamagnetic shuttle relative to the photogate.
UNIVERSAL SENSOR SYSTEM FOR AUTO DIMMING CONTROL FOR DIFFERENT SPECTRAL OUTPUTS
A rearview system may comprise a light sensor assembly having: a photosensor operable to detect light and generate a signal based, at least in part, on the detected light; a dichroic filter in optical communication with the photosensor and operable to filter light; and a rearview assembly having an electro-optic element may comprise an electro-optic medium and operable to variably change the amount of light passing through the electro-optic medium based, at least in part, on the signal. The dichroic filter may be configured to substantially inhibit light having a wavelength of less than 400 nm or greater than 650 nm from transmitting therethrough.
Automobile antenna assembly with integrated photo radiation intensity sensor
An automobile antenna assembly including a housing adapted for installation on a roof of an automobile, the housing having a base portion and a fin portion extending from the base portion, a radio antenna disposed within the fin portion, and a photo radiation intensity sensor disposed within the base portion, the photo radiation intensity sensor including a first light detecting element located on a first side of the fin portion and a second light detecting element located on a second side of the fin portion opposite the first side, wherein at least a portion of the base portion is translucent for allowing light to be received by the first and second light detecting elements, the fin portion providing a light barrier between the first light detecting element and the second light detecting element.
