Methods and systems for quantitatively measuring photoprotection
The present disclosure relates, according to some embodiments, to a method of determining a quantitatively measured photoprotection of a photoprotective composition, the method comprising: (a) distributing the photoprotective composition in a position in between a drawdown bar and at least one substrate to produce a distributed photoprotective composition; (b) drawing down the distributed photoprotective composition to a thickness on at least one substrate to produce a drawn down sample film; (c) drying the drawn down sample film to produce a dried sample film; (d) measuring a UV absorption of the dried sample film to produce a UV absorption spectrum; (e) determining the quantitatively measured photoprotection of the photoprotective composition from the UV absorption spectrum.

PAR sunlight exposure indicator for optimal plant placement
A sunlight exposure indicator device is disclosed that can determine the amount of time (e.g., hours) of PAR sunlight that occurs in a specific area for the optimal growth of a plant, as corresponds to the plant industry common designations of Full Shade, Partial Shade, Partial Sun and Full Sun. These designations can be used to determine plant selection for all types of plants including grasses, shrubs, flowers, vegetables and herbs, and trees. This device utilizes irreversible, slow-reacting, photochromic pigments applied to a substrate. Using multiple instances of this device will allow someone to easily test and accurately determine the amount of PAR sunlight (hours) received during a one-day sunlight cycle in multiple spots simultaneously. The sunlight exposure indicator device is a one-time-use, non-electronic, disposable device.

Workpiece unit
A workpiece unit that includes a workpiece, a tape stuck to the workpiece; and an annular frame to which an outer circumferential edge of the tape is stuck and which has an opening defined centrally therein. The workpiece is disposed in the opening in the annular frame and supported on the annular frame by the tape, and at least one of the tape and the annular frame has an irreversible discoloring section that discolors in response to an external stimulus. Such a configuration makes it possible to determine whether or not a process involving an external stimulus has been carried out on the workpiece unit, based on the appearance of the workpiece unit (i.e., based on whether the irreversible discoloring section has been discolored or not).
