The invention discloses a Trace Microanalysis Microscope System for high throughput screening. A multimodal imaging sensor arrangement acquires color, multispectral, hyperspectral and multi-directional polarized imaging, independently and in combinations thereof. In one aspect of this disclosure, the multimodal acquisition is combined with a plurality of sample illumination modes, further expanding the dimensionality of the generated data. In another aspect of this invention, machine learning-based methods combining and comparing a- priori data with the acquired multimodal data space, provide unique identifiers for the composition of the analyzed target objects. In yet another aspect of this invention, projection mapping of the identified compositional features navigates secondary sampling for subsequent analyses.

A detector device for the remote analysis of materials, in particular hazardous materials, including at least one laser, which is designed to emit pulsed laser light onto a sample located at a detection distance, and a telescope, which is designed to collect and/or focus laser light scattered on the sample and to forward the scattered laser light into an optical spectrometer. The optical spectrometer is designed for a spectral analysis of the laser light scattered on the sample. The laser is followed by a first beam path with a first reference beam and an additional beam path with a second reference beam for the scattered laser light. A unit is provided for determining a time difference between pulses of the first reference beam and pulses of the second reference beam, wherein the detection distance can be determined from the time difference. The unit is designed to determine the detection distance in real-time.

In a state in which the shifting member is at the projection position, the shutter unit is at the closed position. When the shifting member shifts from the projection position to the retraction position, the shutter unit shifts from the closed position to the open position.

A system and method for assaying high and low abundant biomolecules within a biological fluid sample is provided. The method includes: a) placing a biological fluid sample in contact with a first nanostructure surface; b) interrogating the sample with a light source, the sample in contact with the first nanostructure surface, the interrogation using a SERS technique; c) detecting an enhanced Raman scattering from at least one high abundant biomolecule type and producing first signals representative thereof; d) placing the sample in contact with a second nanostructure surface having a targeting agent that targets a low abundant biomolecule; e) interrogating the sample with the light source using the SERS technique; f) detecting the enhanced Raman scattering from the low abundant biomolecules and producing second signals representative thereof; and g) assaying the biological fluid sample using the first signals and the second signals.

Tunable filter arrays include an array of liquid crystal (LC) tunable Fabry-Perot (FP) microcavities. The microcavities are defined by first and second reflectors and an LC layer situated between the reflectors. The tunable filter is secured to an image sensor array so that the LC tunable microcavities are coupled to respective photodetectors of the image sensor array. Patterned electrodes are situated about the LC layer to tune the microcavities.

A spectroscope device is provided to maintain the uniformity of the central transmitting wavelength in the field of view and to minimize the broaden of the bandwidth of the transmitting wavelengths in an optical lens using an optical tunable filter (variable wavelength filter), even with a wide field of view and/or a large numerical aperture. A space is defined in which, when each beam that is incident from each off-axial object point on the object surface toward the optical lens that includes a plurality of lens elements between an object surface and a conjugate real image surface reaches the optical tunable filter, the chief ray is maintained parallel to the optical axis. Therefore, if an optical tunable filter is disposed in this space, each beam is always incident normal to the filter, so only the narrow band components at the specific central wavelength can be transmitted.

A spectrometer device includes an optical interference filter which is designed to filter specific wavelength ranges of an incident light beam on passage through the optical interference filter. The spectrometer device also includes a detector device which is designed to detect the filtered light beam. Further, the spectrometer device includes a focusing device with a reflective surface. The focusing device is designed to focus the filtered light beam onto the detector device by reflection on the surface.
