OPTICAL SPECTROMETER BASED ON ALTERNATING DIFFRACTIVE OPTICAL ELEMENTS

A high-resolution optical spectrometer with multiple diffractive optical elements operates under broadband light and enables spectral splitting with 3D diffractive optical elements. Diffractive optical elements are used to provide concentration of light as well as spectral splitting. Depending on the application, the high-resolution optical spectrometer operates with a reflection or transmission diffractive optical element. The number of operating wavelengths, spectral resolution, and operating bandwidth of diffractive optical elements are flexible depending on application.

Technique and apparatus for spectrophotometry using broadband filters

A spectrophotometer is provided, which comprises a receiving part diffusing an incident light, a first broadband filter group, and a detector detecting the light having passed through the first broadband filter group, in order to easily select and detect a plurality of lights having specific wavelengths, wherein the first broadband filter group comprises a first broadband filter arranged to have a first angle with respect to an incident direction of light to enable the incident light to pass through a first wavelength band, a second broadband filter arranged to have a second angle, which is different from the first angle, with respect to an incident direction of light to enable the light having passed through the first broadband filter to pass through a second wavelength band, and a first path compensation means for adjusting a path of the light having passed through the second broadband filter to be identical to a path of the light having passed through the first broadband filter, wherein the first broadband filter, the second broadband filter and the first path compensation means are arranged in series with respect to the incident direction of light. Accordingly, it is possible to increase the efficiency of the outputted light compared to the incident light, and to detect a plurality of lights having the desired specific wavelengths at the same time.

Measuring polarisation via a gating frequency

A method and apparatus are disclosed for measuring polarization of electromagnetic illumination. The method includes the steps of modulating a polarization state of illumination received from a target object to generate modulated intensity illumination, selectively measuring an intensity of the modulated intensity illumination by periodically gating an exposure of an imaging device to the modulated intensity illumination at a first gating frequency; responsive to the measured intensity, determining polarization parameters of the received illumination, and generating image data corresponding to the target object with a plurality of the polarization parameters, wherein the illumination from the target object is modulated in accordance with a first frequency and the first gating frequency is associated with and synchronized with at least the first frequency.

Tandem dispersive range monochromator

Aspects of a monochromator are described herein. In one embodiment, the monochromator includes a light source that provides light, a diffraction grating including a first diffraction grating and a second diffraction grating, a grating drive motor that rotates the diffraction grating to provide dispersed wavelengths of light, a detector that detects a portion of the dispersed wavelengths of light, and processing circuitry that controls a grating drive motor to regulate an angular velocity of the grating based on an angular orientation of the diffraction grating. By using a diffraction grating having multiple, different dispersive surfaces, measurements of relatively high precision and quality may be taken throughout a wider spectral range. In another aspect, the processing circuitry controls a sample drive motor to vary an angle of incidence of the dispersed wavelengths of light onto a sample for evaluation.

Data knitting tandem dispersive range monochromator

Aspects of a tandem dispersive range monochromator and data knitting for the monochromator are described herein. In one embodiment, the monochromator includes a tandem diffraction grating, a grating drive motor that rotates the tandem diffraction grating to provide, by diffraction of broadband light, first dispersed wavelengths of light and second dispersed wavelengths of light, a detector that detects a first reflection from the first dispersed wavelengths of light and a second reflection from the second dispersed wavelengths of light, and processing circuitry that knits together data values from the first reflection and data values from the second reflection to provide a spectrum of combined data values. By using a tandem diffraction grating having different dispersive surfaces, measurements of relatively high precision and quality may be taken throughout a wider spectral range, and the measurements may be knitted together to provide a spectrum of combined data values.
