A compact device for controlling the supply of a textile or metal thread to a processing machine, such as a textile machine or a spooling or winding machine, includes a body, at least one rotary member with which the thread cooperates, the member associated with a rotation velocity detector for detecting the rotation velocity thereof, the detector connected to a control unit, a tension detector provided for detecting the thread tension connected to such control unit. The rotary member is idle and is placed in rotation by the thread which is moved thereon, in proximity to such member the tension detector being placed. Also disclosed is a method for controlling the supply of thread actuated by such device.

WEB-TENSION-MEASURING DEVICE, USE OF SUCH AND A ROLLER COMPRISING A WEB-TENSION-MEASURING DEVICE

A web-tension-measuring device has two plates, which can be rotated relative to one another about an axis of rotation, to be precise such that the one free end of the one plate can be moved towards, or away from, the corresponding, opposite free end of the other plate. A force transducer is arranged in the region of the free ends of the two plates and outside the axis of rotation. The force transducer is configured, during movement of the free ends of the two plates towards one another, to detect a corresponding compressive loading arising from the movement and, during the movement of the free ends away from one another, to detect a corresponding tensile loading between the two plates.

Sensor roll

A roll for a machine for producing and/or processing a fibrous web, such as a paper, board or tissue web, has a circular-cylindrical main roll body. A roll cover covers the circumferential surface of the main roll body, at least in some segments. A pressure- and/or temperature-sensitive sensor is embedded in the roll cover. The sensor connects to an electrical and/or optical signal line. The signal line has a first line segment inside the roll. A second line segment extends substantially outside the roll and is connectable to a signal excitation and/or signal processing unit at one end. An electrical and/or optical rotational connection connects the first and second line segments to allow the line segments to be rotated relative to one another. When the roll is rotated, the first line segment rotates together with the main roll body. The second line segment does not have to follow the rotation.

Method and System for Measuring/Detecting Ice or Snow Atmospheric Accretion on Overhead Power Lines

The present invention is related to a method for detecting and/or measuring atmospheric accretion on a suspended electrical cable span (2) of overhead power lines, said suspended electrical cable span (2) having a sag (D) and a local tension (H), and being submitted to wind pressure (w.sub.wind), comprising the steps of independently: measuring said sag (D), and optionally measuring the wind pressure (w.sub.wind), over a first time range, measuring the local tension (H) over a second time range,
the results of both steps being complemented and/or combined, so that to allow atmospheric accretion detection and/or measurement.

REAL-TIME BELT TENSION SENSING SYSTEM

A real-time belt tension sensing system includes an engagement assembly that is adapted to remain in substantially continuous contact with a belt that is being driven in a conveyance or drive direction. As the belt is driven in the drive direction, it simultaneously causes the position of the engagement assembly to move in a slack direction that is substantially perpendicular to the drive direction. A tension sensor produces a slack position signal based on the current position of a portion of the engagement assembly. The slack position signal is transmitted to a controller or control circuit in electronic communication with the tension sensor. The control circuit interprets the slack position signal to produce a tension measurement.

STRAP TENSION DETECTOR

There is a strap tension detector for detecting tension in a strap. A housing has an upper portion and a lower portion. The upper portion and lower portion are adapted to receive the strap. A strain beam is mounted to one of the upper portion and the lower portion. The strain beam is arranged at an angle to the strap to extend across the width of the strap when the strap is placed between the upper portion and the lower portion and extending through the first and second strap-receiving openings so that the strap bears on the strain beam when taut. A strain gauge is operatively connected to detect strain across the strain beam.
