Fiber-optic sensors in a rosette or rosette-like pattern for structure monitoring
An apparatus, and related method, relates generally to a fiber-optic sensing system. In such a system, fiber-optic sensors are in a rosette or rosette-like pattern. An optical circulator is coupled to receive a light signal from a broadband light source, to provide the light signal to the fiber-optic sensors, and to receive a returned optical signal from the fiber-optic sensors. A spectral engine is coupled to the optical circulator to receive the returned optical signal and configured to provide an output signal.
DEVICE AND METHOD FOR TESTING OVERALL ANCHORAGE PERFORMANCE OF BASALT FIBER REINFORCED PLASTIC (BFRP) ANCHOR CABLE
A device for testing overall anchorage performance of a basalt fiber reinforced plastic (BFRP) anchor cable includes an anchor cable anchoring system and a data acquisition system. The anchor cable anchoring system includes a test bed, BFRP arranged over the test bed, and a distributed optical fiber bonded to a surface of the BFRP, the test bed being provided with an anchoring section at one end and an outer anchoring section at the other end, the anchoring section anchors one end of the BFRP, and the outer anchoring section anchors the other end of the BFRP. The data acquisition system includes a modem and a grating connected to two ends of the distributed optical fiber in series, and a center hole jack and a dynamometer arranged between the outer anchoring section and an end of the test bed, and the BFRP penetrates the center hole jack and the dynamometer.
Tunable light source for optical fiber proximity and testing
Systems and methods for alignment and testing of a photonic device include a light source, an interferometer, a detector, and a processing circuit. The processing circuit may generate control signal(s) for the light source to project a beam through the interferometer to a device under testing (DUT). The interferometer may receive an interference beam from an optical fiber of the DUT. The processing circuit may align optical fiber(s) for the DUT, determine one or more characteristics for the DUT, and so forth based on the interference beam and a reference beam generated by the interferometer.
Methods and apparatus for determining shape parameter(s) using a sensing fiber having a single core with multiple light propagating modes
Example embodiments include an optical interrogation system with a sensing fiber having a single core, the single core having multiple light propagating modes. Interferometric apparatus probes the single core multimode sensing fiber over a range of predetermined wavelengths and detects measurement interferometric data associated with the multiple light propagating modes of the single core for each predetermined wavelength in the range. Data processing circuitry processes the measurement interferometric data associated with the multiple light propagating modes of the single core to determine one or more shape-sensing parameters of the sensing fiber from which the shape of the fiber in three dimensions can be determined.
Diagnosis device
A diagnosis device includes a data acquirer, a data recorder, and a health diagnoser. The data acquirer acquires a measurement data of a structure at a predetermined timing. The data recorder causes a storage to store the measurement data acquired by the data acquirer as a standard data. The health diagnoser diagnoses a health of the structure by comparing the measurement data that is acquired by the data acquirer this time with the standard data that has been acquired by the data acquirer last time and stored in the storage.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR TRANMISSIONS USING ELIPTICAL CORE FIBERS
A system for transmission of optical data signals has first optical processing circuitry for receiving a plurality of digital signals and applying at least one of a Hermite-Gaussian function, a Laguerre-Gaussian function or an Ince-Gaussian function to each of the received plurality of digital signals. The first optical processing circuitry also combines each of the at least one of the Hermite-Gaussian function, the Laguerre-Gaussian function or the Ince-Gaussian function applied plurality of digital signals into a single carrier signal. An optical transmitter transmits the single carrier signal. An optical receiver receives the transmitted single carrier signal. Second optical processing circuitry separates the at least one of the Hermite-Gaussian function, the Laguerre-Gaussian function or the Ince-Gaussian function applied digital signals of the single carries signal into separate signals and removes the at least one of the Hermite-Gaussian function, the Laguerre-Gaussian function or the Ince-Gaussian function applied to each of the plurality of digital signals. An elliptical core fiber transmits the single carrier signal from the optical transmitter to the optical receiver. The elliptical core fiber includes an elliptical core have a major axis and a minor axis.
