The invention additionally relates to a sample drawing system comprising the sample drawing container and a lock fitting and to a method for drawing a sample using the sample drawing system.

Methods for collecting and testing bacteria containing samples from within the gastrointestinal tract

The present disclosure relates to methods of collecting and testing bacteria containing samples from within the gastrointestinal (GI) tract of a subject. The methods may include disposing an ingestible device in the GI tract, collecting a bacteria-containing sample from the GI tract, selectively lysing eukaryotic cells in the sample by combining the sample with a dried reagent, exposing bacteria in the sample to resazurin in the ingestible device to produce resorufin, emitting light from the ingestible device, the emitted light being filtered through an optical filter to control for scatter so that the light interacts with the resorufin to produce fluorescence, and measuring a total fluorescence from the resorufin; or a rate of change of fluorescence from the resorufin as a function of time within the GI tract of the subject; and correlating the measured parameter to a number of viable bacterial cells in the sample.

A liquid quality measurement apparatus includes a piping constituting a circulation path through which a measurement liquid flows, and a liquid quality sensor for measuring the quality of the measurement liquid, and an addition tank connected to the piping via an inlet port and an outlet port. The addition tank has an internal space, an introduction portion through which a liquid different from the measurement liquid is introduced, and a ventilation portion through which air is released from the internal space to the outside. An addition tank internal channel is formed at a bottom portion of the internal space. The addition tank internal channel connects the inlet port and the outlet port. The measurement liquid flows through the addition tank internal channel. The introduction portion and the ventilation portion are disposed in a wall surface of the addition tank that faces the internal space above the addition tank internal channel.

In one embodiment, the system can include at least one apparatus that can include a rotatable shaft, one or more other moving parts, and at least one fluid path containing a lubricating fluid. The system can also include at least one sample container and at least one unmanned aerial vehicle configured to transport the at least one sample container. The system can also include at least one valve that can be configured to open and discharge a sample of the lubricating fluid from the at least one fluid path into the at least one sample container. At least one unmanned aerial vehicle station can be configured to receive the at least one unmanned aerial vehicle. At least one retention and loading mechanism can be configured to move the at least one sample container.

Systems, devices, and methods for point-of-use testing for fluid contamination

Systems, devices, and methods for detecting contamination (e.g., bacteria) in fluid are provided. The systems, devices, and methods allow for filtering a fluid sample using a filter to capture and concentrate cells (e.g., bacteria) to detect electrochemical properties thereof. The cells can be exposed to a reagent that diffuses into the cells to produce a product of interest that can be used in analysis of the fluid sample. The product of interest can diffuse out of the filter into a fluid storage component for detection and analysis by an analysis component. After the sampling is completed, the filter can be detached and discarded. Other aspects of the present disclosure, including enhancements and various systems and methods for concentrating cells and analyzing the same, are also provided.

SAMPLING ZONE ISOLATION TOOL AND METHOD FOR GROUNDWATER SAMPLING SYSTEM

A screen point groundwater sampling system includes a drive head positioned between the upper end of a cylindrical housing and a lower end of a probe rod. A latching tool is provided to secure a mechanical pump to the drive head upon insertion of the latching tool into the inner bore of the drive head. The latching tool creates a water-tight seal between the drive head and the inlet of the mechanical pump to prevent contamination of the groundwater sample from water leaking into the probe rod string above the drive head. A frangible structure on the latching tool allows the mechanical pump to be removed from the drive head upon applying sufficient vertical force in an upward direction to shear the frangible structure. The latching tool can also be used to attach a sample tubing to the drive head for use with a pump located at the ground surface.
