BIOLOGICAL SAMPLE DETECTION METHOD BASED ON SURFACE-ENHANCED RAMAN SPECTROSCOPY
A biological sample detection method based on surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy is disclosed, which relates to the technical field of biological detection. The method includes following operations: washing a substrate used for Raman spectroscopy to obtain a clean substrate; performing surface nanostructuring on the clean substrate to make the clean substrate have a surface Raman enhancement effect, and ultrasonically cleaning the nanostructured substrate with clear water to obtain a surface nanostructured substrate; and inserting the surface nanostructured substrate in a test biological sample, and taking it out after adsorbing the substance to be detected, and then detecting Raman spectrum signals on the surface.
Apparatus for preconcentrating and transferring analytes from surfaces and measurement thereof using spectroscopy
An apparatus for capturing a target analyte in advance of performing spectroscopic analysis to determine the existence of the target analyte from a source contacted with a collection substrate. The collection substrate is fabricated of a material selected to have an affinity for the target analyte, sufficiently transparent in a spectral region of interest and capable of immobilizing the target analyte thereon in a manner that limits scattering sufficient to obscure spectral analysis. The collection substrate may be coated with a material selected to react with, bind to, or absorb the target analyte. The target analyte may be captured to the collection substrate by one or more of wiping, dabbing or swabbing a target analyte carrier with the collection substrate.
PAPER TRANSIT TICKETS AS A MEDIUM FOR ENVIRONMENTAL SAMPLING
A method for conducting environmental sampling includes determining to environmentally sample a particular paper transit ticket for a specific residue. Using an automated ticket device, at least one chemical reagent is applied to the particular paper transit ticket. The chemical reagent is selected based on the specific residue. The particular paper transit ticket is collected after the particular paper transit ticket was used as a fare media within a transit system. The at least one chemical reagent is analyzed to determine whether any of the specific residue is present.
Tracking wound healing progress using remote image analysis
Systems and methods for tracking healing progress of multiple adjacent wounds are provided. In one embodiment, a system may include a processor configured to receive a first image of a plurality of adjacent wounds near a form of colorized surface having colored reference elements, determine colors of the plurality of wounds, correct for local illumination conditions, receive a second image of the plurality of wounds near the form of colorized surface, to determine second colors of the plurality of wounds in the second image, match each of the plurality of wounds in the second image to a wound of the plurality of wounds in the first image, and determine an indicator of the healing progress for each of the plurality of wounds based on changes between the first image and the second image.
SAMPLE SMEARING APPARATUS
A sample smearing apparatus of an embodiment includes: a first slide glass feeder that feeds a slide glass before processing; a slide glass transporter including a slide glass holder that holds the slide glass, that is capable of receiving the slide glass at a first slide glass feeding position from the first slide glass feeder, and transports the received slide glass while holding the slide glass with the slide glass holder; and a slide processor that performs processing on the slide glass held by the slide glass holder.
Method of preparing a biological sample for study in a charged particle device
The invention relates to a method of preparing a biological sample for study in an analysis device, said method comprising the steps of: providing a biological material to be studied; providing a sample holder that is configured to be placed in said analysis device; and transferring said biological material onto said sample holder for preparing said biological sample. According to the invention, the method comprises the steps of: acquiring a specimen of said biological material provided on said sample holder; transferring said specimen to a screening device for screening said specimen; and evaluating said biological sample based on results obtained by said screening device. With the method, time and resources may be more effectively used in studying biological samples, for example using charged particle microscopy in the form of cryo-EM.
Open-Cell Foam Environmental Indicator, and Methods of Use
A method of removing and detecting the presence of substances from at least one of a body of water and the air. The method includes placing into the body of water or into the air an open-cell foam material, removing separate portions of the open-cell foam material from the water or air at different exposure times after the open-cell foam material was placed into the water or air, and determining the presence in the removed separate portions of one or more substances that were removed from the water or air by the open-cell foam material.
Open-Cell Foam Environmental Indicator
An open-cell foam structure that is used to detect and remove substances from water or air.
