A particle measurement system and method of operation thereof are described. The system and method render a characteristic for a set of particles measured while passing through a measurement volume. The system includes a source that generates a particle-laden field containing the set of particles. The system further includes a sensor that generates a raw particle data corresponding to the set particles passing through the measurement volume of the particle measurement system, where the raw particle data comprises a set of raw particle records and each of one of the raw particle records includes a particle data content. A preconditioning stage carries out a preconditioning operation on the particle data content of the set of raw particle records to render a conditioned input data. A machine learning stage processes the conditioned input data to render an output characteristic parameter value for the set of particles.

Concentration measuring device

A concentration measuring device includes a circulation passage, an aspirator, a differential pressure sensor, and a control unit. The aspirator is disposed in a fuel tank and is connected to the circulation passage. While a gas flows from a gaseous layer within a fuel tank through the circulation passage due to a negative pressure generated in the aspirator, the differential pressure sensor measures a pressure difference of the gas within the circulation passage between an upstream side of a narrowed part, having a narrower passage area than an adjacent portion of the circulation passage, and a downstream side of the narrowed part. The control unit is configured to calculate a density of the fuel vapor from the pressure difference of the gas and to calculate a concentration of the fuel vapor from the density of the fuel vapor.

A mist spraying unit atomizes a liquid and sprays the liquid as a mist, a light projector irradiates a space into which the mist is sprayed from the mist spraying unit with light, an imaging unit images scattered light by the mist of the light irradiated from the light projector, and an arithmetic unit calculates a mist concentration in the space based on a luminance value of a pixel constituting an image acquired from the imaging unit, thereby stopping spraying of the mist sprayed from the mist spraying unit.

System for determining an ensemble characteristic of a particle-laden flow

A system and method are described for rendering a characteristic for a set of particles passing through a measurement volume of a particle optical measurement system. The method includes acquiring raw particle data for the particles passing through the measurement volume. The raw particle data comprises a set of raw particle records. Each particle record comprises at least: a trajectory of at least one particle, and a second primary mark of the at least one particle whose value influences an effective sampling area corresponding to the measurement volume. The method includes generating and storing an effective sampling area based upon: the trajectory of the at least one particle, and the second primary mark. Thereafter, an ensemble characteristic is rendered for the set of particles by performing an operation on the sampling area-corrected set of particle records.

The method also includes capturing an image, video, or both of the drop. The method also includes detecting the drop in the image, the video, or both. The method also includes characterizing the drop after the drop is detected. Characterizing the drop includes determining a size of the drop, a location of the drop, or both in the image, the video, or both.

Air quality meter

A portable air quality monitoring device is disclosed that can identify the type of particles in the air. This device takes images of particles in the air and compares them with a library of particles in its memory to identify the type of particles. The device has a housing that draws ambient air into the system and takes microscopic images of the flowing particles and droplets using flash photography. The device can be stand alone or can connect to the back of a mobile phone and use the mobile phone camera and light. People can upload their local air quality data online for all to see the local air quality.

Liquid droplet and solid particle sensing device

A liquid droplet and solid particle sensing device is provided that can measure the average droplet size in a spray. The present device uses a swirling flow to draw a particulate or a spry into the device for sizing and counting. The swirling flow is configured to keep all the particles away from the walls of the device and to concentrate them at the center of a flow channel to pass through the center of a light beam for high sensitivity and repeatability of the measurement.

Particle detecting module

A particle detecting module is provided and includes a base, a piezoelectric actuator, a driving circuit board, a laser component, a particulate sensor and an outer cover. A gas-guiding-component loading region and a laser loading region are separated by the base. By the design of the gas flowing path, the driving circuit board covering the bottom surface of the base, and the outer cover covering the surfaces of the base, an inlet path is defined by the gas inlet groove of the base, and an outlet path is defined by a gas outlet groove of the base. Consequently, the thickness of the particle detecting module is drastically reduced.
