Bond test apparatus and method for testing the strength of bonds on electrical circuitry
A bond test apparatus includes a test tool, a stage for mounting a bond for testing, and a drive mechanism comprising a voice coil. The voice coil is coupled to either the stage or to the test tool and is configured to provide relative movement between the stage and the test tool such that the bond applies a test force to the test tool. The bond test apparatus can also include a velocity sensor configured to sense an instantaneous relative velocity between the stage and the test tool, and a controller configured to control the drive mechanism in response to a signal from the velocity sensor. The bond test apparatus can also include a retarding mechanism coupled to the stage or the test tool and configured to apply, in response to relative movement between the stage and the test tool, a retarding force opposing the driving force.
Weld coupon destructive test device
A weld coupon destructive test device includes a support base. A plunger connected to the support base and movable between a first position and a second position along a length of the support base. A handle to operate the plunger between the first position and the second position. A header on the support base, the header configured to press a weld coupon between the header and the plunger, the header having a first support end and a second support end, the header having a depression formed between the first support end and the second support end. The weld coupon rests between the first support end and the second support end of the header, and the weld coupon is pressed into the depression formed between the first support end and the second support end of the header.
Method for weld performance validation
Methods are provided for joint performance validation and include preparing a coupon from a blank by bending the blank to have a pair of legs disposed at substantially ninety degrees relative to each other. Another coupon is prepared by forming an opening in a segment of another blank and bending the segment approximately ninety degrees. The segment is disposed adjacent an end of the second blank. A test sample is prepared by joining the coupons together at a joint with a leg attached to the segment approximately at a center of the leg. The test sample is subjected to a force test to generate data for the performance validation.
SYSTEM FOR DETECTING POOR WELD IN WELDED PORTION OF BATTERY MODULE, AND METHOD THEREOF
Provided is a system for detecting a poor weld in a welded portion of a battery module, the system including a battery module fixation unit fixing the battery module to be inspected, an inspection position movement unit moving the battery module fixation unit to a welding inspection position, a welding inspection unit including a frictional reaction force measurement unit inducing a slight movement of the welded portion of the battery module and measuring a frictional reaction force generated thereby and a vision inspection camera detecting an amount of change in a position of the welded portion of the battery module, and a control unit determining whether the welded portion of the battery module is poorly welded based on the frictional reaction force and the amount of position change, measured by the welding inspection unit.
Joint analyzing method, product designing method, and joint analyzing system
A joint analyzing method includes: performing a data measurement; performing a detailed analysis; performing a simplified analysis; performing a first repetition analysis in which the detailed analysis is repeated while modifying a first analysis model in which geometry of a joint surrounding region is modeled and an analysis technique in the detailed analysis, until a data measurement result and a detailed analysis result are brought into agreement; and performing a second repetition analysis in which the simplified analysis that takes into consideration an initial internal load of at least one junction in a load non-applied state obtained in the first repetition analysis is repeated while modifying a second analysis model rougher in element division of the geometry than the first analysis model and an analysis technique in the simplified analysis, until the data measurement result and a simplified analysis result are brought into agreement.
REMAINING LIFE ESTIMATION METHOD FOR ESTIMATING REMAINING LIFE OF HIGH-CHROMIUM STEEL PIPE
An aspect of the present disclosure is to precisely define a constant value used in the Monkman-Grant analysis, when estimating remaining life of a high-chromium steel pipe through which high-temperature and high-pressure fluid is allowed to flow. A remaining life estimation method according to the present disclosure is particularly characterized in that a step of obtaining a constant on an accelerated creep test is performed in which a constant indicative of the product of a strain rate and a rupture time in the Monkman-Grant analysis is obtained by multiplying a first coefficient to transform uniaxial rupture ductility into multiaxial rupture ductility, the uniaxial rupture ductility being obtained from a specimen of the high-chromium steel pipe, a second coefficient to amend consumed life of the specimen, and a third coefficient to amend a measured pressure into an assessment pressure.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR EVALUATING A BOND
A system for evaluating a bond includes a first electrode and a second electrode that are spaced apart from one another. The system also includes a sacrificial material layer positioned proximate to a surface of a bonded structure that includes the bond. The system also includes a power source configured to cause the first and second electrodes to generate an electrical arc that at least partially ablates the sacrificial material layer as part of a non-destructive inspection of the bond.
Peeling apparatus and method for separating welded layers
An apparatus and method for separating welded multi-layered samples has a slotted engine-driven spindle that twists and pulls a layer from the sample, breaking the welds as the layer winds around the spindle. The sample is held between two clamps and a tensioning cylinder pulls a movable first clamp against the second stationery clamp. Sensors may sense the force required to break the welds and the data may be stored and analyzed in a computer.
UNDER WATER ACOUSTICS PLASMA GENERATOR
A system and method for evaluating a bond is provided. The system uses an underwater spark discharge to generate a compression wave in a first vessel containing a liquid. The system further includes a second vessel in which a vacuum is pulled to hold the first vessel against a bonded structure being inspected. The compression wave is directed to propagate from the liquid into the bonded structure to apply a known force to the bond being inspected.
Quality inspection tool for projection welded fasteners
A handheld quality inspection tool for projection welded components and method for utilizing the same is disclosed. The handheld quality inspection tool includes an elongated hollow tube, a spring support, a spring member, a plunger, and a handle. The elongated hollow tube defines a slot. The spring support is connected to an end portion of the elongated tube. The spring member is disposed within the elongated hollow tube and connected to the spring support. The plunger is disposed in the elongated hollow tube and connected to the spring member opposite the spring support. The handle is connected to the plunger and protrudes from the elongated hollow tube through the slot and is translatable along the slot to move the plunger and compress the spring member. Upon release of the handle, the compressed spring member propels the plunger to apply an impact force to a projection welded component.
