GLUT-1 AS A RECEPTOR FOR HTLV ENVELOPES AND ITS USES
The present application relates to a method for diagnosing a glucose transporter type 1 (GLUT1) deficiency syndrome that utilizes polypeptides derived from the soluble part of the glycoprotein of the enveloped virus of primate T-cell leukemia virus (PTLV). The polypeptides, named receptor binding domain ligands (RBD), are selected for their ability to bind specifically to GLUT1. The method involves determining the level of GLUT 1 expression at the cell surface and comparing the level to a reference value.
METHOD OF SCREENING A DRUG SUCH AS INSULIN SECRETAGOGUE
The screening method of the present invention is useful for screening drugs such as insulin secretagogues having an insulin secretagogue activity with minimized side effects (hypoglycemia induction, etc.). The transformant in which a polynucleotide encoding the fusion protein used for the screening method is introduced, the screening kit comprising the transformant, etc. are also useful for screening excellent drugs.
PANCREATIC CELLS FOR TREATING DIABETES AND METHODS OF GENERATING THE SAME
The present disclosure provides cell-based compositions for treating diabetes, methods for identifying cells that preferentially differentiate into endoderm cells, and methods for preparing insulin-producing pancreatic cells, as well as related methods of use for treating diseases related to insulin deficiency.
Methods for quantitation of insulin levels by mass spectrometry
Methods are described for determining the amount of insulin in a sample. Provided herein are mass spectrometric methods for detecting and quantifying insulin and C-peptide in a biological sample utilizing enrichment and/or purification methods coupled with tandem mass spectrometric or high resolution/high accuracy mass spectrometric techniques. Also provided herein are mass spectrometric methods for detecting and quantifying insulin and b-chain in a biological sample utilizing enrichment and/or purification methods coupled with tandem mass spectrometric or high resolution/high accuracy mass spectrometric techniques.
Protein corona phase molecular recognition
Corona Phase Molecular Recognition (CoPhMoRe) utilizing a heteropolymer adsorbed onto and templated by a nanoparticle surface to recognize a specific target analyte can be used for macromolecular analytes, including proteins. A variant of a CoPhMoRe screening procedure of single walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNT) can be used against a panel of human blood proteins, revealing a specific corona phase that recognizes fibrinogen and insulin, respectively, with high selectivity.
APPARATUS AND METHODS FOR FABRICATION OF NANOPATTERNED ARRAYS
A biosensor for monitoring surface binding events is disclosed. The biosensor comprises an array of nanoparticles and an analyte responsive polymer. The array of nanoparticles includes a plurality of nanoparticles distributed across the nanoparticle array. The analyte responsive polymer includes a recognition element at a first end of the polymer and a terminus at a second end of the polymer distal from the recognition element, the terminus end being conjugated to the nanoparticles in the array. When the recognition element reacts with an analyte, the analyte responsive polymer creates an electrochemical signal at the surface of the nanoparticle array which can be measured to monitor surface events of the analyte responsive polymer.
Systems and methods for sample use maximization
The present invention provides systems, devices, and methods for point-of-care and/or distributed testing services. The methods and devices of the invention are directed toward automatic detection of analytes in a bodily fluid. The components of the device can be modified to allow for more flexible and robust use with the disclosed methods for a variety of medical, laboratory, and other applications. The systems, devices, and methods of the present invention can allow for effective use of samples by improved sample preparation and analysis.
PECVD coated pharmaceutical packaging
An article or vessel is described including a vessel surface and a coating set comprising at least one tie coating, at least one barrier coating, and at least one pH protective coating. For example, the coating set can comprise a tie coating, a barrier coating, a pH protective coating and a second barrier coating; and in the presence of a fluid composition, the fluid contacting surface is the barrier coating or layer. The respective coatings can be applied by PECVD of a polysiloxane precursor. Such vessels can have a coated interior portion containing a fluid with a pH of 4 to 8. The barrier coating prevents oxygen from penetrating into the thermoplastic vessel, and the tie coating and pH protective coating together protect the barrier layer from the contents of the vessel. The second barrier coating is comparable to glass surface if needed.
Hepatic insulin sensitizing substance and test meal for insulin sensitization
The present invention provides methods of treating prediabetes, hyperglycemia, type 2 diabetes, AMIS syndrome, and obesity in a subject by administering to the patient HISS. The present invention also provides methods of diagnosing AMIS syndrome in a patient. Additionally, the present invention provides a method of shifting nutrient storage in meat-producing livestock to muscle rather than fat.
