SYSTEMS ANDMETHODS TO IMPROVE ORGANOR TISSUE FUNCTION ANDORGANOR TISSUE TRANSPLANT LONGEVITY
The present invention provides for systems and methods for inhaled CO therapy to prevent, attenuate, or delay processes that accelerate the loss of organ or tissue function, thereby increasing the lifespan of transplanted organs or tissues, or slowing the decline of native organs or tissues, or delaying the need for replacement of diseased native organs with organ transplants. Such biological processes that are prevented, attenuated, or delayed include chronic persistent inflammation, fibrosis, scarring, as well as immunologic or autoimmune attack.
Diagnostics systems and methods
A point-of-care diagnostic system that includes a cartridge and a reader. The cartridge can contain a patient sample, such as a blood sample. The cartridge is inserted into the reader and the patient sample is analyzed. The reader contains various analysis systems, such as an electrophoresis detection system that uses electrophoresis testing to identify and quantify various components of the blood sample. The reader can process data from the various patient sample analysis to provide interpretative results indicative of a disorder, condition, disease and/or infection of the patient.
METHOD FOR STABILIZING HEMOGLOBIN AND REAGENTS FOR PERFORMING THE SAME
A stool resuspension solution comprising a hemoglobin stabilization reagent is provided. In some embodiments, the hemoglobin stabilization reagent may be an osmolyte, a polyvalent cation, a sugar or polysaccharide and, optionally, a polyvalent cation, a protoporphyrin, or an HRP stabilization component and, optionally, a polyvalent cation. A method of stabilizing hemoglobin in a stool sample in the solution is also provided, as well as a sample collection device containing the solution.
Modified amadoriase and method for producing the same, agent for improving surfactant resistance of amadoriase and composition for measuring HbA1c using the same
Provided is a composition by which glycated hemoglobin can be measured even in the presence of a stronger surfactant than a conventional case. Also provided is a buffer and/or stabilizer which maintains the residual activity of an amadoriase or lowers a reduction of residual activity. The present invention provides a composition for use in measuring glycated hemoglobin containing an amadoriase having substitution of one or more amino acid residues at a position(s) corresponding to an amino acid(s) selected from the group consisting of position 262, position 257, position 249, position 253, position 337, position 340, position 232, position 129, position 132, position 133, position 44, position 256, position 231 and position 81 of an amadoriase derived from the genus Coniochaeta and represented by SEQ ID No: 1 or 3, and having residual activity even in the presence of a surfactant. The present invention also provides a composition and kit for use in measuring glycated hemoglobin, comprising a specific stabilizer and/or a buffer. The present invention can provide an enzyme and a composition for use in measuring glycated hemoglobin, excellent in storage stability even if they are exposed to a surfactant.
BLOOD CELL LYSIS COMPOSITIONS AND USES THEREOF
An example blood cell lysis composition includes a buffer and a secondary alcohol ethoxylate at a concentration in the range of about 2.5 percent (%) to about 20% weight per volume (w/v). The secondary alcohol ethoxylate may include Tergitol™ TMN-100X or Tergitol™ 15-S-9. The composition may be configured to lyse at least 90% of blood cells in a blood sample.
Amadoriase having enhanced dehydrogenase activity
Provided are an amadoriase that is less likely to be influenced by oxygen concentration and a method and a reagent kit for measurement of HbA1c using such amadoriase. Provided are an amadoriase that is obtained via substitution of one or more amino acid residues at a position or positions corresponding to the position(s) selected from the group consisting of positions 280, 267, 269, 54, and 241 of the amadoriase derived from the genus Coniochaeta, a method for measurement of HbA1c, a reagent kit for measurement, and a sensor using such amadoriase. The modified amadoriase according to the invention has a lowered oxidase activity and an enhanced dehydrogenase activity, and this enables the use of an electron mediator, and this reduces the influence of oxygen concentration. Thus, HbA1c can be measured with high sensitivity.
FECAL SAMPLE PROCESSING AND ANALYSIS COMPRISING DETECTION OF BLOOD
A method of processing a fecal sample from a human subject comprising removing a portion of a collected fecal sample and adding the removed portion of the sample to a buffer that prevents denaturation or degradation of blood proteins found in the sample, and detecting the presence of human blood in the removed portion of the fecal sample. The method further comprises stabilizing the remaining portion of the fecal sample.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR DETERMINING MARKERS OF HEALTH BY ANALYSIS OF BLOOD
Biomarkers of high blood pressure are measured to identify high blood pressure of the subject based on one or more biomarkers. In many embodiments, the response of the biomarker to blood pressure occurs over the course of at least an hour, such that the high blood pressure identification is based on a cumulative effect of physiology of the subject over a period of time. The methods and apparatus of identifying high blood pressure with biomarkers have the advantage of providing improved treatment of the subject, as the identified biomarker can be related to an effect of the high blood pressure on the subject, such as a biomarker corresponding to central blood pressure. The sample can be subjected to increases in one or more of pressure or temperatures, and changes in the blood sample measured over time.
