PIPETTABLE REPLACEMENT FLUID FOR MIMICKING PIPETTABILITY OF TARGET FLUID AND RELATED METHOD

A replacement fluid suitable to replace a target fluid, wherein the replacement fluid is different from the target fluid. The replacement fluid has pipetting characteristics substantially equivalent to the target fluid, wherein for a desired pipetted volume of the target fluid delivered by a pipette, a pipetted volume of the replacement fluid delivered by the pipette is substantially equivalent to the desired pipetted volume of the target fluid. The replacement fluid is a primary equivalent fluid having substantially similar pipetting characteristics. One or more additives may be added to the primary equivalent fluid. The one or more additives may include pipettability modifying additives and non pipettability modifying additives.

Treatment liquid for exclusion of steroid included in cyclodextrin

In a method for immunologically quantifying a steroid, it is possible to exclude a steroid from cyclodextrin when a standard solution containing the steroid included in cyclodextrin is treated with a surfactant, which thereby suppresses the deviation in behavior of the antigen-antibody reaction between the specimen (test sample) and the standard solution, and then significantly improves the accuracy of steroid quantification.

WHOLE BLOOD CONTROL SAMPLE SYSTEMS AND METHOD OF PREPARING AND USING THE SAME

The preparation and use of systems to provide surrogate whole blood controls using coagulation modifiers to simulate human whole blood in coagulation assays are disclosed.

COMPOSITION CONTAINING TARC, AND METHOD FOR IMPROVING STORAGE STABILITY OF TARC

An object of the present invention is to provide a TARC-containing composition with high storage stability. Provided is a composition including TARC (Thymus and activation-regulated chemokine) and one or more selected from the group consisting of a sugar fatty acid ester-type nonionic surfactant, a polyoxyethylene-polyoxypropylene block copolymer-type nonionic surfactant, and a polyoxyethylene alkylamine-type nonionic surfactant and being in liquid form. The aforementioned object is achieved by the composition.

MODIFIED CELLS AS MULTIMODAL STANDARDS FOR CYTOMETRY AND SEPARATION

Inline classification of a biological specimen including mammalian cells can include generating an alternating current (AC) electrical stimulus to an electrode structure. The electrode structure can be electrically coupled with a flow cell. A response, elicited by the electrical stimulus, can be received when a model specimen class traverses the flow cell. Using the received response, a corresponding impedance parameter value can be determined, the value indicative of a specified biophysical characteristic corresponding to the model specimen class. The first impedance parameter can be translated to a value corresponding to the specified biophysical characteristic.

PREPARATION OF NUCLEATED RBC (NRBC) ANALOGS FOR USE AS REFERENCE HEMATOLOGY CONTROLS IN AUTOMATED HEMATOLOGY ANALYZERS

The subject invention pertains to compositions of novel analogs of red blood cells that are distinguishable from white blood cells in a hematological instrument and processes for manufacturing such analogs. The processes for creating the compositions comprise washing, shrinking, and fixing cells at temperatures at or below room temperature.

Evaluation of complex mass spectrometry data from biological samples

The disclosure relates to a method which is suitable for the quality control and signal correction of mass spectrometry data of biological tissue samples and is based on the analysis of the chemical background signal observed in a spectrum. It exploits the fact that the chemical background signal contains components from a plurality of polymer molecules, whose chemical structure has strong regularities. These regularities mean that the observed masses are subject to certain statistical distributions, which are each characteristic of the class of molecule. By analyzing these statistical properties, it is possible to detect and correct any mass shifts which may be present.

SYNTHETIC CONTROLS FOR IMMUNOHISTOCHEMISTRY

The present disclosure relates to synthetic controls useful, e.g., for immunohistochemistry (IHC), as well as kits and methods of manufacture and use related thereto. In some embodiments, the synthetic controls include a solid antigen/carrier protein gel comprising a purified antigen (e.g., at a known quantity) and a carrier protein such as an albumin protein (e.g., a serum albumin protein), an egg white protein or mixture of egg white proteins, gelatin, or poly-lysine. In some embodiments, the purified antigen is cross-linked to the carrier protein in the solid antigen/carrier protein gel.
