Inspection apparatus and inspection method for inspection target

Whether an internal defect is present in an inspection target is readily judged. Provided is an inspection method for an inspection target that is a layered structure including an FRP material and/or a structure made of resin, the method including the steps of: tapping, with a tapping tool, an inspection target area on a surface of the inspection target; detecting, by an accelerometer mounted to the tapping tool, an acceleration signal corresponding to acceleration of the tapping tool due to reaction force against the tapping; recording waveform data about the detected acceleration signal; creating a contour map corresponding to the inspection target area, based on the recorded waveform data; displaying the contour map on a display unit; and judging whether an internal defect is present in the inspection target, based on the contour map displayed on the display unit.

Devices and methods for holding a sample for multi-axial testing

Methods and devices are disclosed for tracking site-specific microstructure evolutions and local mechanical fields in metallic samples deformed along biaxial strain paths. The method is based on interrupted bulge tests carried out with a custom sample holder adapted for SEM-based analytical measurements. Embodiments include elliptical dies used to generate proportional and complex strain paths in material samples. One example holding device includes a base having a floor and walls that extend to form a chamber for a sample, the floor having apertures for receiving a pressure-supplying fluid, a cover having an opening and configured such that the cover and base can be coupled together to tightly clamp a sample in the chamber, and washers disposed between the base and the cover, each washer having openings extending therethrough change at least one of a shape and a size of the opening formed in the cover.

Universal material tester with several consecutively arranged test units

A universal material tester with two or more consecutively arranges test units has a test tool supporting carriage, which is provided with a removable partition that allows conversion of the test-unit installation socket from a multiple test unit holder into a single test-unit holder, or vice versa. An advantage of the tester is a possibility of expanding dynamic range of measurements by using two or more test units, which are installed in series at one setting and can be used in sequential tests without replacement but with different measurement ranges. This broadens the dynamic measurement ranges and allows revealing material properties otherwise unattainable. The test units may be combined with an imaging device installed in series with the test tools that engage the sample physically.

A battery bending test system includes a fastening device having an inclined surface configured to hold a battery; a pressing device configured to press the battery to bend; and a load-bearing device configured to bear the fastening device, the load-bearing device having a reference surface for bearing the fastening device. A first angle Ø is formed between the inclined surface and the reference surface. The range of the first angle Ø is 0°<Ø<90°. The battery bending test system and method can precisely control the bending angle and bending morphology of the battery, and reasonably evaluate the safety performance of the battery when subjected to the bending force, thus meeting expectations of the safety test.
