Method for producing a chromatography analysis column
The invention concerns a method for producing a chromatography analysis column, the resulting column, and a device comprising such a column. The method according to the invention comprises the following steps: (a) depositing on the flat surface of a substrate a first layer of particles which are intended to form the stationary phase; (b) depositing on the layer at least one second layer of compactly assembled particles; (c) impregnating the first and second layers with a light radiation-sensitive material, to form at least two compactly assembled particle layers impregnated with sensitive material; (d) insolating these layers in the regions corresponding to the desired internal shape of the chromatography analysis column, if the light radiation-sensitive material behaves like a positive resin, or outlining this internal shape if the light radiation-sensitive material behaves like a negative photosensitive resin; (e) eliminating either the regions insolated in step (d) if the light radiation-sensitive layer behaves like a positive photosensitive resin, or the regions not insolated in step (d) if the light radiation-sensitive material behaves like a negative photosensitive resin; and (f) covering and sealing the structure obtained in step (e) with a cover covered on the face facing the layers with at least one layer of compactly assembled particles which are identical to or different from those deposited on the substrate surface. The invention is used in particular in the field of chemical analysis.
Method of Assessing the Cleanness of a Bed Support in a Column
The invention discloses a method for individually assessing the cleanness of at least one of an upper (2) and a lower (3) bed support in a process column (1). The method comprises the steps of: a) providing a process column (1) comprising an upper (2) and a lower (3) bed support, a column chamber, a movable adaptor (5), an upper outlet (6) and a lower outlet (7); b) conveying liquid through one of the lower (3) and upper (2) bed supports, e.g. by moving the adaptor (5) downwards at a predetermined rate with one of the upper and lower outlets closed and the other open to force liquid through one of the lower and upper bed supports, and; c) measuring the differential pressure over the bed support through which liquid passes.
TECHNIQUES FOR THERMALLY INSULATING A CHROMATOGRAPHIC COLUMN
Apparatus and methods for performing chromatography may include a chromatography column and a vacuum insulated jacket having an inner wall and an outer wall. A vacuum area may be formed between the inner wall and the outer wall. The inner wall of the vacuum insulated jacket may surround the chromatography column. A gap may be formed between an outer wall of the chromatography column and the inner wall of the vacuum insulated jacket. The vacuum insulated jacket may extend beyond one or more end frits of the column. The gap may be filled with one or more materials so as to form an insulating or thermal barrier.
Gas Chromatography Columns with Integrated Ferrules
A capillary column includes a fused silica tubing and a polyimide coating over the fusing silica tubing. Additionally, the capillary column further includes a first plurality of integrated ferrules positioned along at least a first portion of the fused silica tubing and spaced apart from one another by a first fixed interval.
Column device for liquid chromatography and liquid chromatography apparatus
A cylindrical column body (101) holds a filler. A pair of end caps (105, 106) covers both ends of the column body (101) and has a flow hole for a carrier liquid (111, 112) arranged in the center thereof. An end surface on the side of a large diameter portion (113a, 114a) of a pair of columnar joint members (113, 114) contacts an end surface of the pair of end caps (105, 106) and also has a communication hole (115, 116) arranged in the center thereof. A sealing member (117, 118) is arranged on a contact surface between the end cap (105, 106) and the joint member (113, 114). A bottomed cylindrical case (121) accommodates the pair of end caps (105, 106) and a large diameter portion of the pair of joint members (113, 114) in an engaged state. A cover member (124) is detachably installed on a side of an opening of the case (121).
VOLATILE COMPONENT EVALUATION METHOD AND DEVICE USED THEREFOR
An apparatus includes a first flow channel connected to a gas release channel of a gas chromatograph that sends at least a volatile component separated by the gas chromatograph into the mouth of an evaluator; a container that stores a non-gaseous flowable specimen having fluidity; and a second flow channel that sends the flowable specimen into the mouth.
Chromatography apparatus
Disclosed is a chromatography system (100) comprising: plural modules (1-25) including at least one pump and a column valve unit (8) connectable to plural chromatography columns; and a controller (600), the controller being operable to control the or each pump and the column valve to perform different chromatographic processes, including chromatography employing just one column, as well as chromatography employing two or more columns by selective valve opening in said unit. The system includes a housing (110) into which the plural modules (1-25) are interchangeably mountable in apertures of one generally vertical face of housing, the modules are adapted for selective fluidic interconnection by tubing substantially at said one face such that in use the modules and tubing occupy a generally vertically extending volume to minimize the footprint of the system.
Pre-assembled separation columns
There is provided an integrated system for liquid separation, such as LC, CE, affinity chromatography, and ion exchange chromatography, comprising a column and end-fittings embedded in a plastic material, such as a thermoplastic polymer. The system may further comprise an electrospray emitter directly connected with the outlet of the column, wherein a substantial part of the emitter is covered with the polymer material. There is also provided a method by which a separation column along with the accompanying end fittings for connection with adjacent liquid conduits is embedded in a polymer matrix. This configuration e.g. ensures that the factory-made, correct attachment of the fittings to the column is preserved (since the matrix prevents further user intervention, accidental or otherwise). Accordingly, the responsibility for the correct attachment of the fittings is shifted from the end user to the manufacturer.
CHROMATOGRAPHY COLUMN POSITIONING ASSEMBLIES
The exemplary embodiments provide chromatography column positioning assemblies that can ensure that the distance between face seals or other sealing surfaces/mechanisms at the respective ends of a liquid chromatography column is a desired distance (i.e., the length of the liquid chromatography column). The exemplary embodiments can adjust the separation between the face seals to accommodate different length liquid chromatography columns. For example, a chromatography column positioning assembly of an exemplary embodiment can set the distance between face seals to accommodate a 25 mm column, a 50 mm column or a 100 mm column.
