APPARATUS FOR PEELING LOGS
Apparatus for peeling a log (5) comprising a cutting station (3), a loading station (2) and a device (4) for transferring logs (5) from the loading station (2) to the cutting station (3), the cutting station (3), the loading station (2) and the transfer device (4), in use, interacting with each other to position the log (5) in the cutting station (3). The loading station (2) comprises a device (10) for axially rotating the log (5) about a second rotation axis (11) and a radiographic examination device (19) configured to generate, in use, radiographic scans of the log (5). An electronic unit is connected both to the radiographic examination device (19), to receive digital-format data from it relating to each radiographic scan generated by it, and to the axial rotation device (10), and which is programmed to use said digital-format data to control the operation of the transfer device (4) and/or the cutting station (3).

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR TRACKING LOGS IN A WOOD PROCESSING CHAIN
A system (100A) to track logs in a wood processing chain, includes a database arrangement (102) that includes pre-recorded image of a given log, wherein the given log is associated with log identification information. The system further includes a plurality of imaging devices implemented at a sorting station. The plurality of imaging devices (104) is configured to capture a first set of images from at least a first prespecified oblique angle. The system further includes a data processing arrangement (106) that is configured to: identify the given log at the sorting station; compare the at least one pre-recorded image with the captured first set of images at the sorting station in order to find an optimum image from the compared images for identification of the given log; determine a plurality of physical characteristics; and append the log identification information with the determined physical characteristics of the given log.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR TRACKING LOGS IN A WOOD PROCESSING CHAIN
A system (100A) to track logs in a wood processing chain, includes a database arrangement (102) that includes pre-recorded image of a given log, wherein the given log is associated with log identification information. Device for determining the moisture and/or the conductivity of a medium
The invention includes a device for determining the moisture or conductivity of a medium in a container. A measurement probe is plunged into the medium and consists of a conductive material, a conductive rod, and a first feed-through component designed such that the conductive rod can be fastened to an electrically conductive wall or holder. A rod of a non-conductive material and a second feed-through component are provided, where the non-conductive rod can be fastened to the wall, the conductive rod and the non-conductive rod are dimensioned and oriented that the measurement probe is oriented parallel to the longitudinal axis of the container and a signal-processing unit designed such that high-frequency measurement signals are conducted via the measurement line to the measurement probe and that the moisture or the conductivity of the medium is determined by means of a TDR method.

Apparatus and method for performing computed tomography scans of elongate objects, wherein the object is irradiated with X-rays emitted by a plurality of X-ray emitters which are offset relative to a forward movement direction transversal to the main axis of the object, wherein a rotation device rotates each object about its own main axis of extension while the object is irradiated by one or more beams of X-rays, wherein electronic identifying means estimate the instantaneous position and orientation of the axial portions of the object which are irradiated during the rotation, and wherein an electronic processing and control unit is programmed for combining sets of radiographic data acquired for each axial portion of the object at different detecting moments during the rotation, for processing a three-dimensional tomography reconstruction of the object while taking into account corresponding information about the position and the orientation of each axial portion at each moment.

The system includes memory devices and processing devices operatively coupled to the memory device, wherein the one or more processing devices are configured to execute computer-readable computer program code to receive a plurality of job orders for distinct wood products having varying components; optimize cutting of all components for the plurality of job orders to minimize waste of source materials, thereby resulting in a plurality of components for the plurality of job orders; track each component electronically in order to identify each component at a final cutting machine location; and affix a unique indicator on each component indicating both a receptacle and a receptacle portion corresponding to each component, thereby optimizing organization of all the components by at least one of job, distance from machine to receptacle, and distance from receptacle to assembly location.

Footwear scanning systems and associated methods are described. According to one aspect, a footwear scanning system includes a base, a shuttle configured to rotate beneath the base, wherein the shuttle comprises an antenna array configured to transmit electromagnetic waves through the base into footwear above the base during the rotation of the shuttle and to receive electromagnetic waves reflected from the footwear during the rotation of the shuttle, a transceiver coupled with the antenna array and configured to apply electrical signals to the antenna array to generate the transmitted electromagnetic waves and to receive electrical signals from the antenna array corresponding to the received electromagnetic waves, and processing circuitry configured to process an output of the transceiver corresponding to the received electromagnetic waves to provide information regarding contents within the footwear.
