Energy metering terminal or measuring circuit of an energy metering terminal
A measuring circuit for determining the magnitude of a current flowing through a conductor, the measuring circuit having an input terminal pair that can be connected to the current transformer with a first switch, which connects a measuring resistor between the input terminals in a current measuring position, and which, in a voltage measuring position, separates the measuring resistor from at least one of the input terminals, and having an output terminal pair, at which, alternatively, a voltage-dependent measuring voltage present at the input terminal pair or a current-dependent measuring voltage present at a first measuring point of the measuring resistor can be tapped. Apparatus and system for wide-range current sensing
A sectioned field effect transistor (“FET”) for implementing a rapidly changing sense range ratio dynamically in response to changing load and main supply conditions. The sectioned FET may have multiple main FET sections, and multiple sense FET sections. These sections can be dynamically connected and disconnected from the sectioned FET. The sections may also be connected by a common gate. There may also be common drain or source connections for the main FET sections, and also common drain or source connections for the sense FET sections. The sectioned FET allows for the sense range to be extended by a multiple of k+1, where k is the size ratio or factor of the additional sense FET sections. This allows the current sense range ratio to be extended to (m+n)/n*(k+1).
COMPENSATING CURRENT MONITOR FOR ELECTRONIC SYSTEMS HAVING MODE-SENSITIVE SELECTION OF CURRENT-SENSING INPUTS
Accurate operation of a current monitor is provided by injecting a bias voltage to a maintain de-selected sense amplifier input in an active state. An electronic system includes an output stage to supply a load current and includes two push-pull output drivers having sense resistors supplying a first and a second sense voltage. An included mode control circuit selects between a first and a second operating mode and selects a polarity of the current. An included current monitor receives the sense voltages and has a control input coupled to the mode selection control circuit. The current monitor provides an output that is dependent on both sense voltages in the first operating mode and is indicative of one of the sense voltages selected according to the selected polarity in the second operating mode. The bias voltage is injected into an unselected sense inputs to maintain active operation of the sense amplifier.
