Systems and methods for magnetic resonance imaging of infants
According to some aspects, a system configured to facilitate imaging an infant using a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) device is provided herein. The system comprises an infant-carrying apparatus comprising an infant support configured to support the infant and an isolette for positioning the infant relative to the MRI device, the isolette comprising: a base for supporting the infant-carrying apparatus; and a bottom surface configured to be coupled to the MRI device. In some embodiments, the infant-carrying apparatus further comprises at least one radio frequency (RF) coil coupled to the infant support and configured to be coupled to the MRI device to detect MR signals during imaging performed by the MRI device. A method for positioning an infant relative to an MRI device using an infant-carrying apparatus and isolette is further provided herein.

Disclosed is a method to remove distortion from a navigation system. The navigation system may be used to perform a procedure on a subject. The procedure may be any appropriate procedure. The navigation system may be used to account for the distortive effects of various conductive objects positioned near the subject on which the procedure is performed.
MRI-compatible devices
The present disclosure provides medical devices having MRI-compatible circuitry. Preferably, the devices do not project an enlarged profile, yet their position can be determined during an iMRI procedure. Illustrative embodiments of such a device can include a base surface, a first conducting layer disposed on the base surface, a first insulating layer disposed over at least a portion of the first conducting layer, and a second conducting layer disposed over at least a portion of the first insulating layer.
Puncture planning apparatus and puncture system
A puncture planning apparatus has: a simulation unit that simulates movement of an organ and a puncture needle by simulation using an organ model; and a planning unit that plans, based on the simulation result, how to move the puncture needle when an actual organ is punctured. The simulation unit executes a plurality of times of the simulation of an operation to advance the puncture needle while correcting an angle of the puncture needle so as to follow the movement of the target segment due to deformation of the organ, conditions of an advancement speed of the puncture needle are changed for each of the plurality times of the simulation, and the planning unit performs planning using the best simulation result out of the plurality of simulation results acquired under different conditions of the advancement speed.
Clutching Mechanism for Teleoperated In-Bore MRI Guided Biopsies
Limited physical access to target organs of patients inside an MRI scanner is a major obstruction to real-time MRI-guided interventions. Traditional teleoperation technologies are incompatible with the MRI environment and although several solutions have been explored, a versatile system that provides high-fidelity haptic feedback and access deep inside the bore remains a challenge. A passive and nearly frictionless MRI-compatible hydraulic teleoperator is provided designed for in-bore biopsies. A needle driver translates a needle in insertion and retraction directions via a clutch mechanism. A needle holder grips the needle via a retraction lock when the clutch mechanism of the needle driver releases the needle to hold a position of the needle during reposition of the needle driver.
SYSTEM FOR DETECTING MAGNETIC RESONANCE GENERATED GRADIENT FIELD USING AN IMPLANTED MEDICAL DEVICE
An implantable medical device (IMD) includes electronic circuitry, and one or more processors configured to switch operation of a first coil of the electronic circuitry between the first and second modes. When in the first mode, the one or more processors are configured to manage operation of the electronic circuitry and the first coil to at least one of sense biological signals, deliver treatment for a non-physiologic condition, or wirelessly communicate with at least one of an external device or second implanted device. When in the second mode, the one or more processors are configured to manage operation of the electronic circuitry and the first coil to detect the time varying MR generated gradient field along the first axis.
