LOW BY-PRODUCT CONTENT POLYPHENYLENE POLYMETHYLENE POLYISOCYANATES

The invention relates to polyphenyl polymethylene polyisocyanates having an NCO number of at least 29% comprising less than 2% by weight ureas, less than 8% by weight carbodiimides or uretonimines and less than 1000 ppm organic chlorine compounds.

The polyphenyl polymethylene polyisocyanates can be prepared according to the invention by reacting (i) polyphenyl polymethylene polyamines with organic carbonates to give the corresponding polyphenyl polymethylene polycarbamates, (ii) by thermally cleaving the polyphenyl polymethylene polycarbamates to give the polyphenyl polymethylene polyisocyanates,
wherein, prior to the thermal cleavage, the free amino groups or urea groups present in the carhamate crude mixture comprising the polyphenyl polymethylene polycarbamates are reacted with a derivatizing reagent to give amide groups or urethane groups.

The polyphenyl polymethylene polyisocyanates can further be prepared according to the invention, prior to the thermal cleavage, by removing compounds having free amino groups or urea groups present in the carbamate crude mixture from the carbamate crude mixture by filtration of the carbamate crude mixture comprising the polyphenyl polymethylene polycarbamates over a solid acidic adsorbent in the presence of an acid dissolved in the carbamate crude mixture.

Multi-parameter diabetes risk evaluations

Methods, systems and circuits evaluate a subject's risk of developing type 2 diabetes or developing or having prediabetes using at least one defined mathematical model of risk of progression that can stratify risk for patients having the same glucose measurement. The model may include NMR derived measurements of GlycA and a plurality of selected lipoprotein components of at least one biosample of the subject.

Temperature-control system for MR apparatuses with a permanent magnet arrangement

A temperature-control system for an NMR magnet system. A permanent magnet arrangement (1) with a central air gap (2) generates a homogeneous static magnetic field inside the air gap. A probehead (3) transmits RF pulses and receives RF signals from a test sample (0). An H0 coil changes the amplitude of the static magnetic field. A shim system (4) in the air gap further homogenizes the magnetic field. A first insulation chamber (5) surrounds and thermally shields the permanent magnet arrangement and includes an arrangement (6) controlling a temperature T1 of the first insulation chamber. The shim system, the H0 coil and the NMR probehead are arranged outside the first insulation chamber in the air gap. A heat-conducting body (7) is arranged between the shim system and the H0 coil on one side and the permanent magnet arrangement on the other, thereby enhancing field stability and suppressing drift.

Magnetic resonance spectroscopy system and method for diagnosing pain or infection associated with propionic acid

An MR Spectroscopy (MRS) system and approach is provided for measuring spectral information corresponding with propionic acid (PA), either alone or in combination with other measurements corresponding with other chemicals, to diagnose and/or monitor at least one of bacterial infection, such as associated with P. acnes, or conditions related thereto such as nociceptive pain associated with tissue acidity. An interfacing DDD-MRS signal processor receives output signals to produce a post-processed spectrum, with spectral regions corresponding with certain chemicals, including PA, then measured as biomarkers. A diagnostic processor derives a diagnostic value for each disc, and performs certain normalizations, based upon ratios of the spectral regions related to chemicals implicated in degenerative painful tissue pathology, such as PA and hypoxia markers of lactic acid (LA) and alanine (AL), and structural chemicals of proteoglycan (PG) and collagen or carbohydrate (CA).

METHOD AND DEVICE FOR DETERMINING FIBRE POROSITY IN A FIBRE SUSPENSION, AND CONTROL SYSTEM

Disclosed is a method for determining fibre porosity in a fibre suspension. A sample is taken from a fibre suspension and fibre porosity determination is performed by determining the ratio of fibre-internal water to fibre-external bound water as an online measurement using a NMR spectroscope in successive steps of: generating a magnetic field for exciting protons of water contained in the sample; exciting water molecules of fibre suspension contained in the sample with a frequency pulse provided by a coil; measuring a return signal of the frequency pulse that returns from water molecules to the coil; determining the proton relaxation time and the amplitude of the return signal from the return signal; and determining fibre porosity of the fibre suspension based on the amplitude and the relaxation time of the exponential return signal. Also disclosed is a device for determining fibre porosity of a fibre suspension and a control system connected to a fibre web machine.
