METHOD OF OPERATING A RADAR SENSOR SYSTEM FOR VITAL SIGN DETECTION WITH ELIMINATION OF SIGNALS EXCITED BY INTERFERING MOVEMENTS

A method of operating a radar sensor system that is configured to determine range and velocity information from radar waves reflected by a scene in an interior of a vehicle for vital sign detection. The method includes steps to decompose reflected and received signals into range and velocity information, to measure the movement over time in specified range gates and to evaluate the similarities between them. Based on the characteristics of similar behaving range bins, it can be decided whether any detected movement is related to an internal or external disturbance or by vital signs.

Radio frequency sensing in a television environment

Techniques are provided for performing radio frequency (RF) sensing to determine the viewing status of a television user. This can be used to determine user behavior during the playback of content (e.g., whether a user is watching the content), which can be used as a data point for determining the user's level of interest in the content. Using the status of the television user, embodiments can provide additional or alternative functionality, such as powering down and/or powering up the television. Furthermore, RF sensing may be performed by existing television hardware, such a Wi-Fi transceiver, and may therefore provide RF sensing functionality to a television with little or no added cost.

Radar detection systems and methods for detecting permanence of slow targets

A radar detection method may include: transmitting a first radar signal in a field of view and receiving a second radar signal originated from reflections of the first radar signal in the field of view; generating a detection profile by processing the first and second radar signals, the detection profile representing intensities of the second radar signal as a function of positions in the field of view; and analyzing the detection profile to identify targets in the field of view. Analyzing the detection profile may include: using a first mode of analysis, with lower sensitivity, for first cycles, wherein the first mode of analysis is configured to detect a target entering the field of view; using a second mode of analysis, with higher sensitivity, for second cycles following the first cycles, wherein the second mode of analysis is configured to detect stay of the target in the field of view.

Proximity detection by multiple WLAN link tracking

Embodiments of a STA configured for proximity detection by multiple WLAN link tracking are disclosed herein. In some embodiments, the STA performs WLAN sensing using two or more WLAN links with one or more other STAs to track a channel state of each link and performs motion detection based on the tracked channel state of each WLAN link to detect motion in any of the WLAN links. If motion is detected in at least some of the WLAN links, the STA may perform proximity detection to indicate proximity by combining results of the WLAN sensing for each link to determine whether the motion is proximate to the STA or proximate to one of the other STAs.
