Ultrasound 3D imaging system
The present invention related to an ultrasound imaging system win which the scan head includes a beamformer circuit that performs far field subarray beamforming or includes a sparse array selecting circuit that actuates selected elements. When using a hierarchical two-stage or three-stage beamforming system, three dimensional ultrasound images can be generated in real-time. The invention further relates to flexible printed circuit boards in the probe head. The invention furthermore related to the use of coded or spread spectrum signaling in ultrasound imagining systems. Matched filters based on pulse compression using Golay code pairs improve the signal-to-noise ratio thus enabling third harmonic imaging with suppressed sidelobes. The system is suitable for 3D full volume cardiac imaging.
Ultrasound system with processor dongle
A highly portable ultrasound system is configured using a wireless ultrasound probe (10), a processor dongle (30) containing a radio and a digital processor running an operating system and an ultrasound control program, and any conveniently available television receiver or display monitor. The sonographer only needs to carry the small wireless probe and the thumbdrive-like dongle in order to turn any available display device, together with the two components carried by the sonographer, into a completely functional ultrasound system. The sonographer can enter a patient's hospital room, plug the processor dongle into the patient monitor in the room, and conduct an ultrasound exam using the patient monitor as the system display, for instance. The system can be controlled by a touchscreen tablet computer, a wireless mouse, or by distinct gestures made by the probe.
Ultrasonic imaging probe including composite aperture receiving array
A system and method from improving the image quality achievable with an ultrasound transducer by using a composite aperture for receiving ultrasound echoes. By using two receive cycles per vector, twice as many transducers may be used for receiving ultrasound imaging data than there are physical channels available in the ultrasound probe. An ultrasound probe utilizing a composite aperture can achieve high image quality from a system have reduced power, size, cost and complexity.

An adaptor for adjusting electrical signals propagated along an electrically-conductive path between a drive unit and a catheter of an intravascular ultrasound imaging system includes a catheter connector disposed along a first end of a housing and configured to receive the catheter. A drive-unit connector is disposed along a second end of the housing and is configured to couple the adaptor to the drive unit. A catheter-conductor interface electrically-couples to a transducer conductor of the catheter. A drive-unit-conductor interface electrically-couples to an electrical conductor of the drive unit. An adaptor conductor electrically-couples the catheter-conductor interface to the drive-unit-conductor interface. A tuning element is electrically-coupled to the adaptor conductor and is configured to adjust electrical signals propagating along the adaptor conductor based, at least in part, on an operational frequency of a transducer disposed in the catheter.
EVENT-BASED ULTRASOUND SYSTEM
Systems and techniques are provided for an event-based ultrasound system. An event-based ultrasound system may include a transducer array, a computing and imaging device, and a connection. The transducer array may include transducer elements and a timing system. The transducer elements may be connected to event-detection circuits. The event-detection circuits may generate events based on the electrical signals of the transducer elements. Data for an event may include an up-down value, a timestamp based on the timing system, and an address of a transducer element. The connection may connect the transducer array to the computing and imaging device. Data for the events generated by the event-detection circuits may be transmitted to the computing and imaging device across the connection.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SCANNING FOR A SECOND OBJECT WITHIN A FIRST OBJECT USING AN ADAPTIVE SCHEDULER
Method for scanning for second object on or within first object starts by receiving information on first object and second object. Task lists are generated that include at least one task action based on information on first object and second object. Based on task lists, beamer is then signaled to generate and send first signal to first probe unit to perform first beam firing. Receiver processes first data signal from first probe unit that is then analyzed to determine if first object is identified using processed first data signal. Upon determination that first object is identified, based on task list, beamer is signaled to generate and send second signal to second probe unit to perform second beam firing. Receiver processes second data signal from second probe unit that is then analyzed to determine if second object is identified using processed second data signal. Other embodiments are described.

ULTRASOUND SYSTEM, ULTRASOUND PROBE, CONTROL METHOD OF ULTRASOUND SYSTEM, AND CONTROL METHOD OF ULTRASOUND PROBE
Provided are an ultrasound system, an ultrasound probe, a control method of the ultrasound system, and a control method of the ultrasound probe capable of using various types of display terminals and causing the display terminal to perform processing according to computing power of the display terminal to be used.
An ultrasound system includes a display terminal and an ultrasound probe. The ultrasound probe has a reception circuit that generates a sound ray signal from a reception signal output from an oscillator array, an image generation unit that generates ultrasound image data from the sound ray signal, and a data selection unit that selects one of the ultrasound image data and intermediate data generated in a middle of generating the ultrasound image data, according to computing power of the display terminal, as data to be output to the display terminal. The display terminal to which the intermediate data is input generates the ultrasound image data from the intermediate data and displays an ultrasound image based on the ultrasound image data on the monitor.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR GRAPHICAL USER INTERFACE WITH FILTER FOR ULTRASOUND IMAGE PRESETS
A graphical user interface displayed by a processing device in operative communication with an ultrasound device may include a preset filter option that provides an easy way to switch between different presets which belong to a preset family. The user uses the preset filter feature to cycle through the different presets in the family while remaining on the same screen that is showing ultrasound images collected in real time. The imaging depth remains the same while the user is using the preset filter feature to select the preset within a family. Other settings such as time-gain compensation may not remain the same when cycling between presets. The preset filter feature allows a user to continuously view and assess the ultrasound images being collected in real time while cycling through the presets in the family.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR ADJUSTING SCAN PATTERN FOR ULTRASOUND IMAGING
Disclosed herein are systems and methods for automatically updating scan patterns used during ultrasound imaging. A handheld ultrasound system may include an ultrasound device with a two-dimensional array of ultrasound transducers, and a smartphone or tablet that configures the ultrasound device to obtain a first ultrasound image frame using a scan pattern defining an acoustic beam. The system then updates the scan pattern to optimize a view of the desired anatomy. When the system is operating in cardiac imaging mode, the scan pattern may be updated by adjusting the azimuthal tilt and/or the elevational tilt of the acoustic beam. When the system is operating in lung imaging mode, the scan pattern may be updated by adjusting the elevational tilt and/or the translation of the aperture of the array of ultrasound transducers. The system then configures the ultrasound device to obtain a second ultrasound image frame using the updated scan pattern.
