High Ping Rate Sonar
20180011190 · 2018-01-11 ·

An apparatus, method, and computer-readable medium for high ping rate depth sounding. The apparatus may cause transmission of a first sonar beam having a first frequency and transmission of a second sonar beam having a second frequency with a transducer assembly. The transducer assembly maybe configured to transmit the first sonar beam and the second sonar beam into the underwater environment. The apparatus may receive sonar return data from the transducer assembly beginning either simultaneously with transmission of the first sonar beam or prior to transmission of the second sonar beam. The apparatus may further determine, based on sonar return data acquired after transmission of both the first sonar beam and the second sonar beam, that the sonar return data corresponds to the first sonar beam by determining that the sonar return data comprises the first frequency.

Amplifier with built in time gain compensation for ultrasound applications

An ultrasound circuit comprising a trans-impedance amplifier (TIA) with built-in time gain compensation functionality is described. The TIA is coupled to an ultrasonic transducer to amplify an electrical signal generated by the ultrasonic transducer in response to receiving an ultrasound signal. The TIA is, in some cases, followed by further analog and digital processing circuitry.

Method for checking a distance measuring device having an ultrasonic sensor

A method for checking a distance measuring device of a transportation vehicle wherein the distance measuring device has ultrasonic sensors. A functional impairment of at least one ultrasonic sensor, a check is performed to determine whether one of the ultrasonic sensors is maladjusted, and an often occurring source of a fault causing a functional impairment of ultrasonic sensors is considered.

Devices, systems and processes for ultra-short range detection of obstacles

Embodiments include devices, system and processes for facilitating ultra-short range detection of obstacles using a PAS sensor. A process may include obtaining a correlation of at least two characteristics of a transducer; determining a given transmission frequency and selecting a reverberation time desired for the transducer; obtaining a damping ratio corresponding to the selected reverberation time; generating a ranging signal command; generating a damping signal command; and outputting each of the ranging signal command and the damping signal command. The ranging signal command may instruct a PAS sensor to drive the transducer to output a ranging signal at the given transmission frequency, at a transmission amplitude, and at a transmission phase and the damping signal command results in a dampening, at the damping ratio, of transducer reverberations arising from the ranging signal. The damping ratio may be between thirty percent (30%) and eighty percent (80%) of the transmission amplitude.

An object detection system includes distance measurement sensors and a hardware processor functioning as a wave transmission control circuit and a determination circuit. The distance measurement sensors provided at different positions in a vehicle. The wave transmission control circuit sets one of the distance measurement sensors as a top of a wave transmission order. A detection range of the one of the distance measurement sensors covers a region where an object is located. The object has been detected through preliminary detection when power supply to the vehicle is started. The wave transmission control circuit then repeats a cyclic wave transmission control on the distance measurement sensors to emit ultrasonic waves sequentially in the wave transmission order. The determination circuit determines an object as a detection target object when any one of the distance measurement sensors has detected the object a predetermined number of times.
