System and Method for Monitoring and Detecting an Illegal Sump Pump in a Sewer System
A system and a method for monitoring and detecting an illegal sump pump in a sewer system is used to accurately detect and locate sump pumps that are illegally connected to the sewer system. Actual audio profiles are collected and timestamped with audio-recording devices. The actual audio profiles from the audio-recording devices are relayed to the remote server. The remote server compares each actual audio profile to a baseline audio profile to identify at least one matching audio profile. If the matching audio profile is identified amongst the actual audio profiles, the remote server geolocates a potential location for an illegal sump pump based on the sewer location of the corresponding audio-recording device for the matching audio profile. The remote server compiles the potential location of an illegal sump pump into a summarization report. The sewer system is continuously monitored by executing several iterations of the overall process.
Terrestrial acoustic sensor array
A terrestrial acoustic sensor array for detecting and preventing airspace collision with an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) includes a plurality of ground-based acoustic sensor installations, each of the acoustic sensor installations including a sub-array of microphones. The terrestrial acoustic sensor array may further include a processor for detecting an aircraft based on sensor data collected from the microphones of at least one of the plurality of acoustic sensor installations and a network link for transmitting a signal based on the detection of the aircraft to a control system of the UAV.
VIBRATION DETECTION DEVICE AND METHOD
A vibration detection device includes a first component, a second component, and a detecting member. The first component and the second component can be moved with respect to each other. The detecting member is located at one of the first component and the second component and can be moved from a position in response to relative movement between the first component and the second component.
Detecting Location within a Network
Systems and methods for detecting the presence of a body in a network without fiducial elements, using signal absorption, and signal forward and reflected backscatter of radio frequency (RF) waves caused by the presence of a biological mass in a communications network.

Method and Apparatus for Noise Control in Ultrasonic Sensors
The adjustable voltage regulator under control of a microcontroller applies controlled amplitude voltage in the range of 5 to 9VDC to the sensor transmitter to adjust the output amplitude of the transmitter. The adjustable amplitude transmitter allows an occupancy sensor to have its total output energy adjusted to reduce environmental noise-induced false triggering and to conform to the area to be covered. Lowering the total ultrasonic energy in the monitored space lowers the sensitivity of the receiver to inappropriate activations. Lowering the input power to the transmitter also lowers the total internal system noise and provides an improved signal to noise ratio in the receiver.
Method and apparatus to non-intrusively measure the weight of loose bulk material within a rigid containing structure
A method and system can measure the weight of a bulk material within a container by applying excitation in the form of vibrational energy and interpreting the container's response to the vibration.
GENERATOR OF ACOUSTIC WAVES
A generator of acoustic waves for submarine environments has a hollow body that extends along an axis delimited by a first closed end and by a second end that is provided with an acoustic diffuser member. The hollow body has a first cylindrical portion delimited by the first end that houses a first piston and a second cylindrical portion delimited by the second end that houses a second piston in a freely axially sliding manner. The second piston is mechanically free from the first piston and has a face that faces the acoustic diffuser member. An impulsive actuator is configured together with the first piston to move the first piston towards the second piston. An adjustor for a longitudinal motion of the second piston is arranged between the first piston and the second piston.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR IDENTIFYING DEPLOYED CABLES
In some implementations, a system may receive a cable map for a deployed cable. The system may receive vibration data indicating a vibration associated with a first section of the cable. The system may determine a characteristic associated with the first section of the cable based on the vibration. The system may determine a location associated with the characteristic based on the cable map. The system may determine that the first section of the cable is associated with the location based on the location being associated with the characteristic. The system may associate the location and a length of a second section of the cable extending from an initial location to the location. The system may receive an input identifying the length of the second section of the cable and may output the location based on associating the location and the length of the second section of the cable.
SYNTHETIC SUBTERRANEAN SOURCE
This disclosure describes a system and method for generating images and location data of a subsurface object using existing infrastructure as a source. Many infrastructure objects (e.g., pipes, cables, conduits, wells, foundation structures) are constructed of rigid materials and have a known shape and location. Additionally these infrastructure objects can have exposed portions that are above or near the surface and readily accessible. A signal generator can be affixed to the exposed portion of the infrastructure object, which induces acoustic energy, or vibrations in the object. The object with affixed signal generator can then be used as a source in performing a subsurface imaging of subsurface objects, which are not exposed.
