SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ACOUSTIC ISOLATORS
An isolator for an acoustic logging system includes an outer housing surface, a bore, an outer bore surface, and a first isolator feature positioned between the outer housing surface and the outer bore surface to reduce a collar wave transmitted by the acoustic source.
AUTOMATIC MICROSEISMIC MONITORING-INTELLIGENT ROCKBURST EARLY WARNING INTEGRATED SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR TUNNEL BORING MACHINE (TBM)-BASED CONSTRUCTION
An automatic microseismic monitoring-intelligent rockburst early warning integrated method is further provided.
Logging while drilling tool
A logging-while-drilling (LWD) tool for use within a formation. The LWD tool may include a transmitter, a receiver, and an acoustic isolator. The transmitter may be operable to transmit an acoustic signal into the formation. The receiver may be operable to receive an acoustic response from the formation. The acoustic isolator may be positioned longitudinally between the transmitter and the receiver to reduce a transfer of acoustic energy between the transmitter and the receiver through the LWD tool. The acoustic isolator may include annular chambers formed in a body of the acoustic isolator and positioned along a longitudinal axis of the acoustic isolator.
ULTRASONIC TRANSDUCER WITH IMPROVED BACKING ELEMENT
In accordance with embodiments of the present disclosure, systems and methods for improving performance of ultrasonic transducers, particularly those used in borehole environments, are provided. The disclosed ultrasonic transducers all feature a backing element that is a ceramic backing material. The ceramic backing material may include a solid piece of ceramic material that is disposed on a back end of a piezoelectric element used in the ultrasonic transducer. The disclosed ceramic backing material may be used to mechanically match the backing element to the piezoelectric source element, while minimizing the amplitude of reflections of the ultrasonic pulse generated by the piezoelectric element and reflected at the far end of the backing element. This ceramic backing material may provide consistent performance regardless of the surrounding pressure and temperature, making it particularly useful in borehole applications.
Push-the-bit rotary guiding device and application method thereof
A push-the-bit rotary guiding device includes a mandrel having a central passage; a sleeve which is rotatably sleeved outside the mandrel; a plurality of swing ribs which are circumferentially arranged in an outer wall of the sleeve with an interval; an actuation mechanism, for controlling each swing rib to swing respectively; a plurality of detectors, which are circumferentially arranged in the outer wall of the sleeve with an interval, for detecting a distance to a well wall in real-time; and a controller, for determining whether the actuation mechanism is required to actuate the swing ribs to swing according to the detected distance. An application method of the push-the-bit rotary guiding device is provided. According to the push-the-bit rotary guiding device, through a real-time detection of the detectors, a well section having an expanded or reduced diameter is detected in time and guiding of the rotary guiding device herein is avoided.
Fault detection for active damping of a wellbore logging tool
Systems and methods for detecting faults in the active damping of a logging tool are disclosed herein. A wellbore logging tool system comprises a processor, a memory, a wellbore logging tool comprising an acoustic transmitter, and a logging tool control module. The logging tool control module is operable to receive sensor signals from one or more sensors coupled to the wellbore logging tool after a damping control signal has been transmitted to the acoustic transmitter. The logging tool control module is also operable to determine one or more expected sensor signals, determine error values using the expected sensor signals and the sensor signals received from the one or more sensors, and compare the error values with one or more thresholds.
Active damping control of a wellbore logging tool
Systems and methods for actively controlling the damping of a wellbore logging tool are disclosed herein. A wellbore logging tool system comprises a processor, a memory, a wellbore logging tool comprising an acoustic transmitter, and a logging tool control module. The logging tool control module is operable to receive sensor signals from one or more sensors coupled to the wellbore logging tool after an actuation control signal has been transmitted to the acoustic transmitter and determine, using the received sensor signals, one or more current dynamic states of the acoustic transmitter. The logging tool control module is also operable to determine a damping control signal based on the one or more current dynamic states of the acoustic transmitter and transmit the damping control signal to the acoustic transmitter of the wellbore logging tool.
Circular downhole ultrasonic phased array
A downhole tool having an acoustic transducer for downhole measurements. A backing is in contact with an inner surface of the transducer. A first structure is coupled to a first housing. A second structure is coupled to a second housing. A member includes first, second, and third portions. The first portion is coupled to the first structure. The second portion is coupled to the second structure. At least one of the first and second structures is coupled to the member and has a degree of freedom relative to the member. The third portion extends longitudinally through the backing between the first and second portions such that compressional forces on the first and second housings are transferred through the first and second structures and the backing. A canister contacts an outer surface of the transducer and exerts radial forces on the transducer when exposed to pressures higher than atmospheric pressure.
Echo detection and measurement in noisy environment for downhole logging
A method for echo detection may comprise recording one or more reflected waveforms, segmenting the one or more reflected waveforms based at least in part on a firing pulse length, applying a shaped filter to each segment of the one or more reflected waveforms, decoupling the one or more reflected waveforms into a time-frequency energy map, extracting a firing frequency band time domain plot from the decoupled time-frequency map, identifying a maximum amplitude in the extracted firing frequency band of the one or more reflected waveforms as an excitation, and identifying a second maximum amplitude in the extracted firing frequency band of the one or more reflected waveforms as an echo. A system for echo detection may comprise a digital signal processor, a transmitter, a transducer, a receiver, an analog to digital converter configured to digitize the measurement, and an information handling system.
