Specular filter (SF) and dip oriented partial imaging (DOPI) seismic migration
A tangible, non-transitory computer-readable medium configured to store instructions executable by a processor of an electronic device to access a beam migration image of a subsurface target. In addition, the computer-readable medium is configured to store instructions executable by a processor of an electronic device to determine a decomposition criteria based on at least one of subsurface dip inclinations, subsurface dip azimuths, or a combination thereof. Further, the computer-readable medium is configured to store instructions executable by a processor of an electronic device to decompose the beam migration image into a plurality of partial images according to the decomposition criteria to provide various views of the subsurface target. The plurality of partial images are usable by seismic interpreters in exploration for hydrocarbons within the subsurface target.
Seismic image dip decomposition estimation and recomposition
Method for optimal stacking of seismic images to remove noise and enhance signals in seismic images (101) outputted from a Reverse Time Migration (RTM) imaging process. Dip information is calculated (102) and then sorted by image point (104), for each seismic image to be stacked. A dominant dip and azimuth is determined at each image point (106), and only those events are stacked (107). If the image is still noisy or lacking in detail (108), the process may be iterated (109) to improve the selection of most likely dip and azimuth.
System and method for identifying artifacts in seismic images
A method is described for seismic imaging that may include receiving digital seismic data; processing the digital seismic data to create a digital seismic image in a seismic domain; flattening the digital seismic image to generate a digital flattened image; identifying artifacts in the digital flattened image; transforming the artifacts back into the seismic domain; and reprocessing the digital seismic data based on the artifacts in the seismic domain to generate a digital image with reduced artifacts. The method may be executed by a computer system.
Pattern-Guided Dip Estimation
Innovative aspects of the subject matter described in this specification may be embodied in methods that include obtaining a seismic data image. A first plane-wave destruction filter dip estimation is applied to the seismic data image to generate an initial dip model. A second plane-wave destruction filter dip estimation is applied to the seismic data image using the initial dip model to generate a pattern-guided dip estimation. The pattern-guided dip estimation is stored in a data store.
Method for enhancing the resolution of a seismic image
A method for enhancing a physical parameter map in a zone of a seismic image. The dip of points of the image is obtained. For one of these points, called second point, a correction factor of a physical parameter is obtained with a residual move-out algorithm from a common image gather. A first point is selected on a line substantially perpendicular to the dip at the second point. The selection involves at least one parameter among whether the difference between the dip at the second point and the dip at the first point is below a first preset value; and the spacing between the first and the second point is below a second preset value. An inversion algorithm gives a corrected interval value of the physical parameter to update the physical parameter map.
SPECULAR FILTER (SF) AND DIP ORIENTED PARTIAL IMAGING (DOPI) SEISMIC MIGRATION

System and method for automatically correlating geologic tops
A system and method are provided for automatically correlating geologic tops. The system receives well logs from different well bores and one or more user seed picks identifying a well top to be correlated. Each of the seed picks is added to a priority queue ordered by each pick's confidence. User selected picks are assigned the highest level of confidence. The system performs correlation by selecting a window of well log data about a user's manual pick, selected from the top of the priority queue, and then finding the best optimal match with a corresponding window in a neighboring wellbore. That new pick is then estimated in the target well using a correlation function. A quality value and a confidence value may then be calculated for each pick using some correlation function, for example dynamic time warping, and added to the priority queue according to the confidence value. The system may be configured so that picks that fall below a preset quality or confidence value may be discarded and not added to the queue. The system may then move on to the next pick in the priority queue.
Specular filter (SF) and dip oriented partial imaging (DOPI) seismic migration
According to one embodiment, subsurface ray directions in beam migration or subsurface wave propagation directions in reverse time migrations are used to obtain additional Specular Filter (SF) and Dip Oriented Partial Imaging (DOPI) images. SF migration applies a specular imaging condition during migration with a pre-specified subsurface dip field. It boosts the S/N ratio in both images and gathers, by effectively removing migration noise. DOPI images are produced by decomposing a standard migration image according to subsurface dip inclination or/and dip azimuth groups, providing various views of the subsurface image. Both SF and DOPI migration images can supply valuable additional information compared to a standard migration image, and they can be efficiently generated during migration.
Method of removing noise in seismic reverse-time migration
A method, including: obtaining, with a processor, a seismic image of a subsurface region from a computer memory; predicting, with a processor, a dip of the seismic image of the subsurface region; and removing, with a processor, noise or artifacts from the seismic image of the subsurface region by applying a dip guided Laplacian filter, wherein the removing generates another seismic image of the subsurface region that has noise or artifacts removed relative to the seismic image of the subsurface region.
