Provided is an optical system, comprising, in order from an object side: a positive first unit; a negative second unit; and a positive third unit, in which, during focusing from infinity to a close distance, the second unit moves toward the image side, and an interval between adjacent units is changed, in which the first unit consists of, in order from the object side: a negative first sub-unit, which does not move for image stabilization; a positive second sub-unit, which moves during the image stabilization; and a third sub-unit, which does not moves for the image stabilization, and in which a distance from a lens surface closest to the object side in the first unit to an image plane when focusing at infinity, and a distance from a lens surface closest to the object side in the second sub-unit to the image plane when focusing at infinity are appropriately set.

Comprising, in order from an object side: a first lens group G1 having positive refractive power; a second lens group G2 having negative refractive power; a third lens group G3 having positive refractive power; and a fourth lens group G4 having positive refractive power; upon zooming from a wide-angle end state to a telephoto end state, the first lens group G1 being fixed in the position in the direction of the optical axis, at least the second lens group G2 and the third lens group G3 being moved in the direction of the optical axis such that a distance between the first lens group G1 and the second lens group G2 is increased and a distance between the second lens group G2 and the third lens group G3 is decreased; and a predetermined conditional expression being satisfied, thereby providing a variable magnification optical system which can suppress variations in aberrations upon zooming and having excellent optical performance from a wide angle end state to a telephoto end state, an optical apparatus, and a method for manufacturing a variable magnification optical system.
Lens module and image apparatus
A lens module for capturing an object light-beam from an object-side is provided. The lens module includes a first lens group, a second lens group, a third lens group, a fourth lens group and a fifth lens group sequentially-arranged from the object-side to an image-side. The five lens groups respectively have at least one lens with positive refractive-power and at least one lens with negative refractive-power. The first, third and fifth lens groups are fixed groups, while the second and fourth lens groups are movable groups. An image apparatus including the lens module is also provided.

A zoom lens comprises, in order from an object: a first lens group (G1) having a positive refractive power, a second lens group (G2) having a negative refractive power, a third lens group (G3) having a positive refractive power, a fourth lens group (G4) having a negative refractive power, and a fifth lens group (G5) having a positive refractive power, in which: intervals between adjacent lens groups change and the first lens group (G1), the second lens group (G2), the third lens group (G3), and the fourth lens group (G4) move upon zooming from a wide angle end state to a telephoto end state; and following conditional expressions are satisfied:
1.80<f1/(fwft).sup.1/2<2.60; and
0.75<f4/(fwft).sup.1/2<1.20, where, f1 denotes a focal length of the first lens group, f4 denotes a focal length of the fourth lens group, fw denotes a focal length of the zoom lens in the wide angle end state, and ft denotes a focal length of the zoom lens in the telephoto end state.

A zoom lens comprises, in order from an object: a first lens group (G1) having a positive refractive power, a second lens group (G2) having a negative refractive power, a third lens group (G3) having a positive refractive power, a fourth lens group (G4) having a negative refractive power, and a fifth lens group (G5) having a positive refractive power, in which: intervals between adjacent lens groups change and the first lens group (G1), the second lens group (G2), the third lens group (G3), and the fourth lens group (G4) move upon zooming from a wide angle end state to a telephoto end state; and following conditional expressions are satisfied:
1.80<f1/(fwft).sup.1/2<2.60; and
0.75<f4/(fwft).sup.1/2<1.20, where, f1 denotes a focal length of the first lens group, f4 denotes a focal length of the fourth lens group, fw denotes a focal length of the zoom lens in the wide angle end state, and ft denotes a focal length of the zoom lens in the telephoto end state.
ZOOM LENS AND IMAGING APPARATUS
A zoom lens consists of a positive first lens group that is fixed during zooming, a negative second lens group that moves during zooming, a positive third lens group that moves during zooming, a positive fourth lens group that moves during zooming, and a positive fifth lens group that is fixed during zooming. During zooming from a wide angle end to a telephoto end, the fourth lens group moves from an image side to an object side, the second lens group and a composite group consisting of the third lens group and the fourth lens group pass through points where respective lateral magnifications are 1 at the same time, the fifth lens group consists of a negative fifth A lens group that moves during anti-shake operation, and a positive fifth B lens group that is fixed during the anti-shake operation, and the lateral magnification of the fifth A lens group is negative.
