PORT PROTECTION SYSTEM
20230025382 · 2023-01-26 ·

A port protection device includes a blocking element movement subsystem that may be coupled to a port that defines a port entrance, and a port entrance blocking element connected to the blocking element movement subsystem and defining airflow aperture(s). When the blocking element movement subsystem is coupled to the port, the blocking element movement subsystem allows the port entrance blocking element to be positioned in a port protection orientation immediately adjacent the port entrance such that airflow is restricted to entering the port via the airflow aperture(s). When the blocking element movement subsystem is coupled to the port, the blocking element movement subsystem also allows the port entrance blocking element to move from the port protection orientation to a cable connector orientation in response to engagement with a cable connector so that the cable connector may move through the port entrance to connect to the port.

MEDICAL LASER DEVICE AND RELATED METHODS

A laser delivery device may include a connector portion at a proximal end of the laser delivery device and an optical fiber connecting the connector portion to a distal end of the laser delivery device. The connector portion may include a capillary at least partially surrounding a proximal portion of the optical fiber, and the capillary may include dimples on at least a portion of a circumferential surface thereof.

Multi-Fiber Ferrule with Improved Eye Safety

A multi-fiber ferrule has lenses that have different prescriptions to disperse the light emitted from the multi-fiber ferrule. Alternatively, the lens for each individual optical fiber can be moved relative to the optical fiber or the optical fiber opening in the multi-fiber ferrule to cause the laser beam exiting the multi-fiber ferrule to be redirected into a structure that absorbs or blocks the laser.

An optical element mounting module includes a wiring board including an upper surface and a terminal, an optical waveguide on the upper surface and the terminal, and an optical element on the optical waveguide, including a light emitting/receiving portion having a convex shape and an electrode. The optical waveguide includes a lower cladding layer, a core on the lower cladding layer, an upper cladding layer, a cavity between the upper surface of the upper cladding layer to the lower cladding layer for dividing the core, a through hole passing through the upper to the lower cladding layer to the terminal, and a conductive material in the through hole and connected to the electrode and the terminal. The light emitting/receiving portion includes a first part on the upper cladding layer and a second part between the upper surface of the upper cladding layer and the lower surface of the optical element.

Optical fiber module, lighting device, and method of manufacturing optical fiber module

An optical fiber module includes an optical fiber containing a glass component, and a ferrule which is tubular in shape and covers an outer circumferential surface in an end portion of the optical fiber. The outer circumferential surface of the optical fiber and an inner circumferential surface of the ferrule are bonded by a silicone resin containing siloxane bonds at cross-linking points.

An optical connector of a power over fiber system includes a shutter. The shutter opens in conjunction with a connection operation to enable the connection and closes in conjunction with a disconnection operation to block feed light from exiting. A light receiving surface of the shutter is made of a wavelength conversion material. The light receiving surface receives the feed light when the shutter is closed. The optical connector is disposed at a feed-light output end in the power over fiber system.
