A head-up display includes a display panel, a reflective optical element, a controller, and an obtainer. The display panel displays a first image. The reflective optical element reflects image light from the first image displayed by the display panel. The controller controls a position at which the first image is displayed on the display panel. The obtainer obtains, as positional information, a position of an eye of a user. The controller changes the position at which the first image is displayed on the display panel in accordance with the positional information.

A three dimensional (3D) display device and a display method thereof are provided. The 3D display device includes a two dimensional (2D) display panel (100) and a slit grating (200) superimposed on the 2D display panel (100). The 2D display panel includes a plurality of subpixels sequentially arranged in a row direction and a column direction; the slit grating includes a plurality of light-transmitting strips (202) and a plurality of light-shielding strips (201) which are parallel to each other and alternately and periodically arranged. An angle formed by a central axis of each of the light-transmitting strips or a central axis of each of the light-shielding strips and the column direction is an acute angle. An area between the central axes of two adjacent light-shielding strips is divided into a first subarea disposed on a first side and a second subarea disposed on a second side by a central axis of a light-transmitting strip between the two adjacent light-shielding strips; subpixels whose area falling into the first subarea is greater than ½ subpixel area are first viewpoint subpixels; and subpixels whose area falling into the second subarea is greater than ½ subpixel area are second viewpoint subpixels.

3D display apparatus in which a display panel has a curvature

A 3D display apparatus in which a display panel has a curvature is provided. A lower barrier layer, an upper barrier layer and lenticular lenses may be sequentially stacked on the display panel. The lower barrier layer and the upper barrier layer may include openings corresponding pixel areas of the display panel, respectively. Each opening of the lower barrier layer and each opening of the upper barrier layer may be disposed on an imaginary line passing through the corresponding pixel area of the display panel and a setting region. Thus, in the 3D display apparatus, the quality of the realized 3D image may be improved.

A three-dimensional display device includes a display panel, an optical panel, and a controller. The display panel displays a parallax image. The optical panel defines a traveling direction of image light. The controller controls the parallax image based on positions of a first eye and a second eye of a user. The controller causes a predetermined proportion of pixels to display a black image. The predetermined proportion is determined to cause, for the first and second eyes of the user at a predetermined reference position, a black image to be displayed by a pixel at one end or two ends of multiple first areas viewable to the first eye and not viewable to the second eye and by a pixel at one end or two ends of multiple second areas viewable to the second eye and not viewable to the first eye in a parallax direction.

High speed binary compressive light field projection system

Implementations of a compressive light field projection system are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, the compressive light field projection system utilizes a pair of light modulators, such as digital micromirror devices (DMDs), that interact to produce a light field. The light field is then projected via a projection lens onto a screen, which may be an angle expanding projection screen that includes a Fresnel lens for straightening the views of the light field and either a double lenticular array of Keplerian lens pairs or a single lenticular, for increasing the field of view. In addition, compression techniques are disclosed for generating patterns to place on the pair of light modulators so as to reduce the number of frames needed to recreate a light field.
