Prism based light redirection system for eye tracking systems
A head-mounted device (HMD) contains a display, an optics block, a redirection structure, and an eye tracking system. The display is configured to emit image light and provide it to an eye of a user. The optics block is configured to direct the emitted light in order to allow it to reach the eye. The eye tracking system contains a camera, an illumination source, and a controller. The camera is configured to capture image data using infrared light reflected from the eye. The controller is configured to use this image data to determine eye tracking information. The illumination source is configured to illuminate the eye with infrared light for the purpose of taking eye tracking measurements. The redirection structure is configured to direct infrared light reflected from the eye to the eye tracking system. In multiple embodiments, redirection structures may comprise prism arrays, lenses, liquid crystal layers, or grating structures.

A display device includes a display panel including a display surface having a Lambertian light emission distribution, and a viewing angle modulator disposed on the display panel. The viewing angle modulator includes a first refractive layer including a diffraction structure on a surface, a refractive index conversion layer disposed on the first refractive layer and including an electro-optical material having a refractive index that changes when a voltage is applied to the electro-optical material, and a second refractive layer disposed on the refractive index conversion layer. The refractive index conversion layer includes a base layer, and an optical structure disposed on the base layer that changes a path of light incident on a surface facing the second refractive layer.

The present specification relates to a film for compensating for a viewing angle, which comprises a base substrate; a pattern layer; and an optical layer, and in which the pattern layer has a first surface comprising a flat surface and a second surface facing the first surface, and the second surface comprises a plurality of protrusions comprising a curved surface, thereby improving a contrast ratio and a viewing angle and decreasing a color band phenomenon, and a polarizing plate comprising the same, and a display device comprising the same.

A purpose of the present invention is to realize a prism sheet in which an outer shape is circular and has a concentric prism array. The present invention includes the structure: A prism sheet has a circular outer shape and a concentric prism array on one surface, in which groove is formed in radial direction from a center of the concentric prism array so as to cross the concentric prism array. The air entrained in the prism array during manufacturing is exhausted through the groove.

The present invention discloses a quantum-dot composite film comprising: a quantum-dot prism film, comprising a quantum-dot layer and a first plurality of prisms disposed over the quantum-dot layer, wherein a first optical prism film and a second optical prism film are disposed over the quantum-dot prism film for increasing the brightness level of the quantum-dot prism film.

The present disclosure provides a reflective polarizer module characterized by comprising: a first light collecting sheet including a first structuring pattern having a first unit light collector, the cross-sectional area of which is reduced progressively upward, which is disposed continuously in a repetitive manner, and collecting a light transmitted from below; a reflective polarizer sheet disposed in a stacked configuration on the top of the first light collecting sheet, and selectively transmitting the light by having a plurality of stacked layers having mutually different refractive indices; and a light recycling improving sheet disposed at the bottom of the reflective polarizer sheet, and randomly changing the polarized direction of the light which is not transmitted through the reflective polarizer sheet but is reflected downward.
OPTICAL STACK COMPRISING ADHESIVE
Presently described are optical stacks comprising a first optical film comprising a plurality of structures comprising an optically active portion designed primarily to provide optical gain and optionally an optically in-active bonding portion disposed on a first surface bonded to a second optical film with a light-transmissive adhesive layer such that a portion of the structures penetrate the adhesive layer and a separation is provided between the adhesive layer and the first surface. In one embodiment, the optical stacks exhibit a combination of high peel strength and high retained brightness, particularly after aging. The adhesive layer preferably comprises an interpenetrating network of the reaction product of a polyacrylate component and a polymerizable monomer and the adhesive layer has an elastic modulus ranging from 100 to 2000 MPa at 25° C.

A HUD system and light source apparatus can be manufactured with miniaturization at low cost. A head-up display apparatus includes: an image display apparatus generating image light to be projected; an optical system performing predetermined correction to the image light emitted from the image display apparatus; and a concave mirror reflecting the image light corrected by the optical system to project it onto a windshield or combiner. The image display apparatus includes: a solid light source; a collimating optical system converting, into parallel light, the light from the solid light source; a lighting optical system configured by an optical member that polarizes a direction of a light beam generated by the collimating optical system and simultaneously expands a width of the light beam; and a display apparatus, the image display apparatus being configured to be arranged across and opposite the optical system on an optical axis of the concave mirror.

A light control film according to the present disclosure comprises: a lower layer having a first axis and a second axis; an upper layer facing with the lower layer; a middle layer having a thickness disposed between the lower layer and the upper layer; a plurality of nano light absorbing layers arrayed with a predetermined interval along the first axis in the middle layer, each of the nano light absorbing layer having a width along the first axis, a length along the second axis and a height corresponding to the thickness of the middle layer; and a prism pattern disposed between each pair of the nano light absorbing layers.
