An optical device includes a light guide and a light shielding portion. The light guide has: an incident surface on which an external scene light coming from a blind area is incident; a first surface including flat portions and prism portions; and a second surface opposite to the flat portions. The light shielding portion is provided on a surface of the light guide or at a position away from the light guide so as to block an outside light entering the light guide. The light shielding portion has a first light shielding portion for blocking light incident on an inclined surface and a second light shielding portion for blocking light incident on the flat portion in a predetermined direction.

The wavelength conversion member has a first face which crosses a longitudinal direction of the wavelength conversion member, and which emits the second light, a second face which crosses the longitudinal direction of the wavelength conversion member, and which is located at an opposite side to the first face, and a third face crossing the first face and the second face. The light emitting surface is disposed so as to be opposed to at least a part of the third face. The reflecting surface is disposed so as to be opposed to the second face. At least one of the second face and the reflecting surface is a rough surface.

SUBSTRATES THAT EXHIBIT INTERFERENCE PATTERNS UPON THE REFLECTION OF INCIDENT ELECTROMAGNETIC RADIATION AND METHODS OF MAKING AND USING THEREOF
20230185003 · 2023-06-15 ·

Disclosed are methods of forming substrates which exhibit an interference pattern (e.g., structural color) upon reflection of incident electromagnetic radiation. Provided herein are methods for creating iridescent structural color with large angular spectral separation. The effect can be generated at interfaces with dimensions that are orders of magnitude larger than the wavelength of visible light. The structural color results from light interacting with the geometrical structure of an interface (e.g., a hemispheric/dome-shaped interface between two materials having different refractive indices) in a way that causes light interference. The structural color observed when viewing the surface depends upon the angle of the viewer as well as the angle of the light incident to the surface.

An infrared imaging apparatus having thin-film spatial filters in a stacked array to filter and collate light generated internally by the infrared imaging apparatus such that the light generated impacts a detection area of the imaging apparatus at or near a critical angle. The index of refraction of the detection area being subject to change when irradiated with infrared light such that the amount of light generated internally and reflected to a light detector attached to the imaging apparatus varies with the intensity of the irradiating infrared light.

AN OPTOELECTRONIC DEVICE

An optoelectronic device, in particular a display device, comprises: at least one optoelectronic light source, an at least partially transparent front layer, an at least partially transparent support layer, wherein the light source is arranged between the front layer and the support layer, wherein a front side of the light source faces the front layer and a rear side of the light source faces the support layer, and wherein a limiting device is provided in a circumferential direction around the light source, wherein the limiting device limits a spatial region, in which the light source emits light such that total internal reflection of the emitted light, in particular at an interface between the front layer and the outside, is avoided or at least reduced.

Various embodiments disclosed herein include camera equipment having a refractive index layer that causes internal reflection close to an image sensor of the camera. In some examples, internal reflection may occur at a boundary formed with the refractive index layer and located between an image sensor and an upper surface of a lens of the camera. The boundary may be formed between the refractive index layer and another material located between the refractive index layer and the image sensor, wherein the refractive index layer has a lower index of refraction than other material between the refractive index layer and the image sensor. The boundary formed with the refractive index layer may cause light to be reflected back toward the image sensor to improve image quality of images captured by the image sensor.
