Low cross-talk multicore optical fiber for single mode operation
A multicore optical fiber comprises a common cladding and a plurality of core portions disposed in the common cladding. Each of the core portions includes a central axis, a core region extending from the central axis to a radius r.sub.1, the core region comprising a relative refractive index Δ.sub.1, an inner cladding region extending from the radius r.sub.1 to a radius r.sub.2, the inner cladding region comprising a relative refractive index Δ.sub.2, and a depressed cladding extending from the radius r.sub.2 to a radius r.sub.3, the depressed cladding region comprising a relative refractive index Δ.sub.3 and a minimum relative refractive index Δ.sub.3 min. The relative refractive indexes may satisfy Δ.sub.1>Δ.sub.2>Δ.sub.3 min. The mode field diameter of each core portion may greater than or equal to 8.2 μm and less than or equal to 9.5 μm.
Universal optical fibre with super Gaussian profile
The present disclosure provides an optical fibre (100). The optical fibre (100) includes a glass core region (102). The glass core region (102) has a core relative refractive index profile. The core relative refractive index profile is a super Gaussian profile. In addition, the optical fibre (100) includes a glass cladding region (108) over the glass core region (102). The optical fibre (100) has at least one of a mode field diameter in a range of 8.7 micrometers to 9.7 micrometers at wavelength of 1310 nanometers and an attenuation up to 0.18 dB/km. The optical fibre (100) has at least one of macro-bend loss up to 0.5 decibel per turn corresponding to wavelength of 1550 nanometer at bending radius of 7.5 millimeter. The optical fibre (100) has a macro-bend loss up to 1.0 decibel per turn corresponding to wavelength of 1625 nanometer at bending radius of 7.5 millimeter.
SPUN ROUND CORE FIBER
Optical waveguide cores having refractive index profiles that vary angularly about a propagation axis of the core can provide single-mode operation with larger core diameters than conventional waveguides. In one representative embodiment, an optical waveguide comprises a core that extends along a propagation axis and has a refractive index profile that varies angularly about the propagation axis. The optical waveguide can also comprise a cladding disposed about the core and extending along the propagation axis. The refractive index profile of the core can vary angularly along a length of the propagation axis.
Cutoff shifted optical fibre
The present disclosure provides an optical fibre. The optical fibre includes a core extended from a central longitudinal axis to a first radius r1. Further, the optical fibre includes a first trench region extended from a second radius r2 to a third radius r3, a second trench region extended from the third radius r3 to a fourth radius r4 and a cladding region extended from the fourth radius r4 to a fifth radius r5.
Optical fiber with dual trench design
A single mode optical fiber is provided that includes a core region having an outer radius r.sub.1 and a maximum relative refractive index Δ1.sub.max. The single mode optical fiber has a bend loss at 1550 nm for a 15 mm diameter mandrel of less than about 0.75 dB/turn, has a bend loss at 1550 nm for a 20 mm diameter mandrel of less than about 0.2 dB/turn, and a bend loss at 1550 nm for a 30 mm diameter mandrel of less than 0.002 dB/turn. Additionally, the single mode optical fiber has a mode field diameter of 9.0 microns or greater at 1310 nm wavelength and a cable cutoff of less than or equal to about 1260 nm.

The present disclosure provides an optical fibre. The optical fibre includes a core, an inner cladding, a first trench region, an intermediate cladding, a second trench region, and an outer cladding. The core has a first radius. The inner cladding is defined by the first radius and a second radius of the optical fibre. The first trench region is defined by the second radius and a third radius. The first trench region. The intermediate cladding is defined by the third radius and a fourth radius. The second trench region is defined by the fourth radius and a fifth radius. The outer cladding is defined by the fifth radius and a sixth radius.
Universal optical fibre compatible with rod-in-cylinder
The present disclosure provides an optical fibre (100). The optical fibre (100) includes a glass core (102), a trench region (106) and a cladding (108). The trench region (106) has a trench curve parameter α.sub.trench in range of 5 to 8. The optical fibre (100) has a mode field diameter in range of 8.7 micrometers to 9.7 micrometers at wavelength of 1310 nanometer.
Optical transmission systems and methods using a QSM large-effective-area optical fiber
Optical transmission systems and methods are disclosed that utilize a QSM optical fiber with a large effective area and that supports only two modes, namely the fundamental mode and one higher-order mode. The optical transmission system includes a transmitter and a receiver optically coupled by an optical fiber link that includes at least one section of the QSM optical fiber. Transmission over optical fiber link gives rise to MPI, which is mitigated using a digital signal processor. The QSM optical fiber is designed to have an amount of DMA that allows for the digital signal processor to have reduced complexity as reflected by a reduced number of filter taps as compared to if the DMA were zero.
Low moat volume single mode ultra-low loss fiber
Embodiments of the current disclosure include low moat volume single mode ultra-low loss optical fibers. In some embodiments, a single mode optical fiber includes a first core region; a second core region surrounding and directly adjacent to the first core region, wherein a volume V of the second core region is less than or equal to 14% Δμm.sup.2; a cladding region surrounding the core region; and wherein the optical fiber has a cable cutoff of less than 1260 nm, a mode field diameter at 1310 nm of 8.6 microns to 9.7 microns, a mode field diameter at 1550 nm of 9.9 microns to 11 microns, and an attenuation at 1550 nm of less than or equal to 0.17 dB/km.
Optical fiber cable with high fiber count
The present disclosure provides optical fibers with an impact-resistant coating system. The fibers feature low attenuation. The coating system includes a primary coating and a secondary coating. The primary coating and secondary coating have reduced thickness to provide low-diameter fibers without sacrificing protection. The primary coating has high tear strength and is resistant to damage caused by mechanical force. The secondary coating has high puncture resistance. The outer diameter of the optical fiber is less than or equal to 190 μm.
