Fiber optic connection modules

Telecommunications assemblies and modules incorporating demateable fiber optic connection interfaces for coupling non-ferrulized optical fibers.

OPTICAL FIBER CONNECTION SYSTEM
20230228951 · 2023-07-20 ·

An optical fiber connection system includes a first and a second optical fiber, each with end portions that are terminated by a first and a second fiber optic connector, respectively. A fiber optic adapter connects the first and the second fiber optic connectors. A fiber alignment apparatus includes V-blocks and gel blocks. Each of the fiber optic connectors includes a connector housing and a sheath. The end portions of the optical fibers are positioned beyond distal ends of the respective connector housings. The sheath is slidably connected to the connector housing and slides between an extended configuration and a retracted configuration. The sheath covers the end portion of the respective optical fiber when the sheath is at the extended configuration and exposes the end portion when at the retracted configuration. The end portions of the optical fibers are cleaned when slid between the V-blocks and the gel blocks.

DUPLEX MOST CONNECTOR

An optical fiber connector has a lens component and a fiber component. The lens component has at least one lens and an opening with at least one V-groove therein. The at least one lens is associated with the at least one V-groove. The fiber component is configured to be partially inserted into the lens component and has at least one bare fiber flexible retention feature configured to retain a fiber of a fiber optic cable within the at least one V-groove and also to align the fiber with the lens.

Ferrule-less fiber optic connector with re-coat layer to protect buckling portion of optical fiber

The present disclosure relates to using a coating to protect a portion of an optical fiber that is intended to buckle within a fiber optic connector. The fiber optic connector can include a bare fiber optical connector.

Optical fiber alignment device with self-healing refractive index-matching gel of polysiloxane and method of making

A fiber alignment device is provided that includes a curable refractive index-matching gel that exhibits self-cleaning and self-healing characteristics upon multiple cycles of insertion and removal of an optical fiber.

CONNECTOR FOR MULTI-CORE FIBER

An optical device that includes a multicore optical fiber having at least two cores. An alignment feature is attached at the first end of the first multicore optical fiber. The device also includes a substrate having at least two waveguides, each waveguide comprising a redirecting feature. A fiber holder is located on the substrate to hold the multicore fiber in a correct axially rotational orientation using the alignment feature, so that light couples between the cores of the multicore fiber and respective waveguides in the substrate.

Ferrule-less fiber optic connector having multiple optical fibers

The present disclosure relates to a ferrule-less fiber optic connector including a connector body having a front end. The ferrule-less fiber optic connector can include a plurality of optical fibers that extend through the connector body. The optical fibers can have having free end portions at the front end of the connector body that are not supported by a ferrule or by ferrules. In one example, the ferrule-less fiber optic connector can be a duplex fiber optic connector. Transceiver modules and components are also disclosed.
