Hybrid ingress protected connector and adapter assembly

A hybrid ingress protection adapter and connector assembly, connecting the housing with a releasably replaceable connector and power assembly to an adapter that is mount on a panel. The connector has a pair of lead-ins that protect a ferrule of a plural of fiber optic connectors, and the lead-ins are of varying length allow blind mating of the connector assembly with the adapter assembly.

The body is configured to receive a fiber optic cable therein and to be coupled with a sub-assembly of a fiber optic connector, an inner surface of the body includes an annularly-extending ridge that protrudes radially inward, and the body is configured to be radially compressed on a jacket of the fiber optic cable when the cap is threadedly coupled with the body.

In another embodiment, the mechanical support is an elongate plate having a concave surface positioned adjacent the splice point and a C shaped cross section.

Male plug fiber optic connectors having configured for mating with a dissimilar connector are disclosed along with cable assemblies using the same. The fiber optic connector comprises a ferrule, a connector housing, and a nose-piece having a pocket disposed at a front portion. The pocket of the nose-piece is configured for allowing optical mating with a dissimilar connector. In one embodiment, the pocket on the nosepiece of the connector is disposed on a forward portion of the nosepiece. The fiber optic connectors disclosed advantageously allow for optical mating with dissimilar optical connectors with a quick and easy assembly for rugged applications or other optical communication networks.

Optical connector assemblies, optical receptacle assemblies and optical connection systems having multiple optical fibers

Optical connection systems, optical cable assemblies, and optical receptacle assemblies for optically coupling multiple optical fibers are disclosed. In one embodiment, an optical receptacle assembly includes a receptacle housing, wherein the receptacle housing defines a receptacle passage, and an adapter sleeve disposed within the receptacle passage of the receptacle housing. The adapter sleeve includes a sleeve passage and a sleeve inner threaded surface. The optical receptacle assembly further includes an adapter housing disposed within the receptacle passage having a first connector opening and a second connector opening, a first receptacle optical connector and a second receptacle optical connector. The first receptacle optical connector is disposed within the first connector opening of the adapter housing and the second receptacle optical connector is disposed within the second connector opening of the adapter housing.

Optical connectors

The cable includes one or more electrically conducting strength members. The connector, the adapter, and the enclosure each have one or more electrical conductors. The cable is terminated by the connector with the conductors of the connector in electrical communication with the strength members. The conductors of the connector electrically contact the conductors of the adapter when the connector and the adapter are mechanically connected. And, the conductors of the adapter electrically contact the conductors of the enclosure when the adapter is mounted on the enclosure.

The present disclosure relates to a fiber optic connector for use with a fiber optic adapter. The fiber optic connector includes a connector housing having an end defining a plug portion. A ferrule assembly is mounted at least partially within the connector housing. The ferrule assembly includes a ferrule located at the plug portion of the connector housing. A sealing member is mounted about an exterior of the connector housing for providing a seal between the connector housing and the adapter. The fiber optic connector further includes first and second separate retaining mechanism for retaining the fiber optic connector within the fiber optic adapter.
