Reflective structure and the pixel electrode are disposed sequentially away from the driver backplane along a thickness direction of the driver backplane. The pixel electrode is connected to the driver backplane through the reflective structure. A surface of the reflective structure away from the driver backplane is a reflective surface comprising a plurality of arc surfaces, and each of the plurality of arc surfaces is convex protruding towards a direction away from the driver backplane. The plurality of the arc surfaces are continuously arranged, and any two adjacent arc surfaces of the plurality of the arc surfaces are connected to each other.
Cholesteric liquid crystal composite display device
A cholesteric liquid crystal (LC) composite display device includes a light absorbing substrate, a first and second transparent substrates, a light supplement module arranged between the light absorbing substrate and the first transparent substrate, a control module, a first and second electrode layers respectively formed on the first and second transparent substrates, a first cholesteric LC layer sandwiched between the first and second electrode layers, and a first light absorbing layer disposed on the second transparent substrate. The projection of the first light absorbing layer on the horizontal plane and the projection of the light supplement module on the horizontal plane are arranged in a misaligned manner. The control module is provided for controlling the light supplement module according to the brightness signal. Thereby, when the external brightness is low, the light supplement module enhances the displaying brightness of the cholesteric LC composite display device to meet the usage requirements.
SPATIAL LIGHT MODULATOR AND METHOD OF FORMING THE SAME
A spatial light modulator and a method for forming the spatial light modulator. The spatial light modulator may include a first reflector. The spatial light modulator may also include a second reflector. The spatial light modulator may further include a liquid crystal layer between the first reflector and the second reflector. The first reflector may include a first electrode. The second reflector may include a second electrode. At least one reflector selected from the first reflector and the second reflector may be or may include a distributed Bragg reflector (DBR). The first reflector and the second reflector may form a Fabry-Perot (FP) cavity.
FULL COLOR REFLECTIVE DISPLAY INCLUDING A PHASE CHANGE MATERIAL
A reflective display apparatus is provided. The reflective display apparatus includes a textured sub-micron metal film textured in a periodic manner, a phase change material (PCM) layer, and a phase change control layer that is configured to change reflection properties of the textured sub-micron metal film by causing the PCM to switch between at least two of a plurality of phases.
Display backlight illumination of a housing perimeter
An information handling system display manages direction of illumination from an internal backlight to illuminate the display perimeter. A translucent material disposed between a liquid crystal display panel and backlight manages a color of backlight illumination applied at the display perimeter. In various alternative embodiments, the translucent material selectively adjusts light transmission characteristics to adjust light that passes to a frontside of the liquid crystal display panel.
Diffuser for privacy display
A privacy display comprises a polarised output spatial light modulator, reflective polariser, plural polar control retarders and a polariser. A birefringent surface relief diffuser structure is arranged to transmit light from the display with high transparency and provide diffuse reflection of ambient light to head-on display users. In a privacy mode of operation, on-axis light from the spatial light modulator is directed without loss and with low diffusion, whereas off-axis light has reduced luminance and increased diffusion. Further, overall display reflectivity is reduced for on-axis reflections of ambient light, while reflectivity is increased for off-axis light. The visibility of the display to off-axis snoopers is reduced by means of luminance reduction, increased frontal reflectivity and diffusion of ambient light. In a public mode of operation, the liquid crystal retardance is adjusted so that off-axis luminance and reflectivity are unmodified.
Marks for privacy display
A switchable privacy display comprises a spatial light modulator with output polariser, a reflective polariser, a polar control liquid crystal retarder and an additional polariser. The electrodes of the polar control liquid crystal retarder are patterned with a mark. In wide angle and narrow angle operational modes, the electrodes of the liquid crystal retarder are driven such that the mark is not visible. In a mark display state, the electrodes are driven to provide visibility of the mark in reflected light to an off-axis observer.
