An image forming apparatus includes a first air suction port sucking an air containing ozone, a second air suction port sucking an air containing the scattered toner, and a duct unit partitioned into a first duct passing through the air containing ozone and a second duct passing through the air containing toner. The duct includes a first fan generating a first air flow inside the first duct to suck the air from the first air suction port and a second fan generating a second air flow inside the second duct to suck the air from the second air suction port. An ozone filter is detachably provided to both the first and second ducts, disposed straddling the first and second ducts, and filters the ozone contained in the first and second air flows.

A movable member includes a frame, a mounting portion, a rotatable image bearing member, a charging member, and a cleaning member. The cleaning member includes a base portion including a first surface positioned on one side of the frame, a second surface positioned on the other side of the frame, and a third surface, and includes a projected portion. The projected portion includes a first side surface positioned on the aforementioned the other side and a second side surface positioned on the aforementioned one side. The first side surface is positioned between the first surface and the second surface. The first side surface constitutes an end surface of the projected portion on the aforementioned the other side with respect to the axial direction, and the second side surface constitutes an end surface of the projected portion on the aforementioned one side with respect to the axial direction.

A corona discharge device including a corona electrode provided with multiple sharpened tip portions in a row includes a cleaning member which cleans the tip portions of the corona electrode while reciprocating along a predetermined movement direction set in advance with the tip portions biting into the cleaning member. A cleaning position at a surface of the cleaning member is different in a direction intersecting a longitudinal direction of the corona electrode between when the cleaning member moves toward one side in the movement direction and when the cleaning member moves toward another side in the movement direction.

An image forming apparatus that includes a charger for charging a surface of a photoreceptor and that forms an image by using an electrophotographic system, the charger being configured to be cleanable, includes a guidance notification unit that causes a guidance notification prompting cleaning of the charger to be displayed and a guidance notification determination unit that, in accordance with a threshold set in accordance with usage condition of the image forming apparatus, determines whether or not to cause the guidance notification to be displayed.

A discharging method used in an image forming apparatus includes discharging, with an exposure device, an exposure range of the latent image bearer, and discharging, with a discharger, an area of the latent image bearer outside the exposure range and inside a developing range in a main scanning direction. The exposure range is inside the developing range in the main scanning direction. The discharging with the exposure device and the discharging with the discharger are performed when a rotation of the latent image bearer is stopped after a toner image is transferred from the latent image bearer.

A fixing device includes a first fixing member, a second fixing member, and a charge application portion. The first fixing member contacts unfixed toner on a sheet conveyed along a conveyance path. The second fixing member forms a nip portion between itself and the first fixing member such that the sheet passes through the nip portion. The charge application portion applies an electric charge to the unfixed toner on the sheet and to an outer circumferential surface of the first fixing member at a region on an upstream side of the nip portion in a movement direction of the outer circumferential surface, by causing a corona discharge to be generated between a discharge electrode and a counter electrode that are disposed apart from the outer circumferential surface of the first fixing member.

According to one embodiment, a charger charges a surface of an image carrier by discharge in a wide-angle. A charging bias voltage application section applies a charging bias voltage to the charger. An exposing device forms an electrostatic latent image in a charged image carrier. A toner carrier causes toner to adhere to the electrostatic latent image formed in the image carrier. A developing bias voltage application section applies the developing bias voltage to the toner carrier. In addition, the developing bias voltage application section changes the charging bias voltage in one step and changes the developing bias voltage applied to the toner carrier in multiple steps.

A blowing tube is provided and includes: a passage portion and plural restriction portions. The passage portion includes an inlet passage portion including a first passage space, a first bent passage portion including a second passage space, and a second bent passage portion including a third passage space. One of the restriction portions includes a plate-shaped blocking portion and an air passage portion disposed between one end of the blocking portion and an inner wall surface on an inner side of the second passage space of the first bent passage portion in the bent direction of the second bent passage portion. A bar-shaped member is provided in the third passage space and present in an isolated manner along a longitudinal direction of an opening of the air passage portion of the restriction portion. The air flowing out through the air passage portion collides against the bar-shaped member and diverges.

A blower duct includes a path section and multiple suppressing sections. The path section connects an inlet and an outlet and allows air to flow therethrough. The suppressing sections are provided at different locations in the air flowing direction and suppress the flow of the air. The path section at least has an entrance path section and a first bent path section. One of the suppressing sections is a first suppressing section including a blocking portion and openings. The blocking portion is disposed in the first bent path section and blocks the flow of the air. The openings are disposed at different positions in one direction and include a first opening disposed closest to the inlet at a first height position where a height from a reference base surface of the first bent path section is larger than the remaining opening or openings.

A charging device for electrically charging a rotatable image bearing member includes a corona charger including a discharging wire, a rotatable rotation shaft provided along the discharging wire and provided with a helical groove on an outer peripheral surface thereof, a motor configured to rotate the rotation shaft, and a movable member including a projected portion engaging with the helical groove and mounted on the rotation shaft so as to be movable along the rotation shaft with rotation of the rotation shaft. In addition, a cleaning member is provided on the movable member to clean the discharging wire, and a brush member is provided on the movable member and configured to brush the helical groove.
