DEVELOPING DEVICE, REGULATING MEMBER, PROCESS CARTRIDGE, AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
A developing device includes a frame, a cylindrical developer carrying member rotatably supported by the frame and configured to carry a developer containing toner particles, and a regulating member fixed to the frame at one end thereof and including a contact portion which contacts the developer carrying member at the other end of the regulating member and which forms a contact nip between the regulating member and the developer carrying member. When a position of the contact portion where a maximum of a pressure distribution of the contact portion to the developer carrying member with respect to a rotational direction of the developer carrying member is indicated is a reference position, the contact portion includes a first surface portion positioned upstream of the reference position and a second surface portion positioned downstream of the reference position with respect to the rotational direction.
Image formation apparatus
An image formation apparatus includes an image-bearing member, an exposure device, an electro-conductive member, a bias application unit and a development device having a development roller and a toner supply roller. The bias application unit configured to apply biases to the toner supply roller, the development roller, and the electro-conductive member during image formation so that a first potential difference between the toner supply roller and the development roller and a second potential difference between the electro-conductive member and the development roller cause normally charged toner to travel respectively from the toner supply roller and the electro-conductive member to the development roller, and a third potential difference between the electro-conductive member and the toner supply roller causes normally charged toner to travel from the electro-conductive member to the toner supply roller. The second potential difference is larger than the first potential difference and is larger than the third potential difference.

The image forming apparatus includes a drum cartridge having a photosensitive drum and a drum drive input member; a developing cartridge configured to be movably mounted to the drum cartridge, the developing cartridge comprising a developing roller disposed so as to face the photosensitive drum and a developing drive input member; a drum drive transmission member configured to engage with the drum drive input member and configured to transmit drum driving force to the drum drive input member while permitting a positional gap of the drum drive input member within a predetermined range; and a developing drive transmission member configured to engage with the developing drive input member and configured to transmit developing driving force to the developing drive input member while permitting a positional gap of the developing drive input member within a predetermined range.
ELECTROPHOTOGRAPHIC MEMBER, PROCESS CARTRIDGE, AND ELECTROPHOTOGRAPHIC APPARATUS
Provided is an electrophotographic member including an electro-conductive substrate and a surface layer on the substrate. The surface layer contains a urethane resin and a first polymer having a specific nitrogen-containing structure. The urethane resin has a structure derived from a second polymer containing a fluorine atom or a structure derived from a third polymer containing a fluorine atom and a silicon atom. The surface layer contains nitrogen atoms derived from the nitrogen-containing structure at a specific ratio in a region from the outer surface of the surface layer to a depth of 300 nm, and the atomic ratios of nitrogen atoms, fluorine atoms, and silicon atoms in a region from a depth of 100 nm from the outer surface of the surface layer to a depth of 300 nm and a region from the outer surface to a depth of 10 nm have specific relationships.
Developing Device
A developing device, including a casing and a seal member is provided. The casing includes a divider wall, dividing a space inside the casing into a container chamber and a developing chamber, and a developing roller. The divider wall includes an opening. The container chamber accommodates a developing agent. The seal member is configured to seal the opening. The seal member includes a ventilation section configured to allow air to pass there-through but restrict the developing agent from passing there-through at least at a part of an area that seals the opening.

A cartridge configured to be attachable to an apparatus main body of an image forming apparatus includes a first unit including a photosensitive drum, a second unit attached to the first unit and including a developing roller, and a second frame member including a toner storage portion and including a toner reception port, the toner storage portion including a first end portion and a second end portion in a rotational axis direction of the photosensitive drum, the toner reception port provided in the first end portion, a toner container configured to be attachable to the second unit, the toner container including a toner discharge port configured to discharge the toner to the toner storage portion through the toner reception port, and a memory, the memory provided in an end portion of the cartridge on the same side as the second end portion of the toner storage portion.
DEVELOPING DEVICE
A developing device may include an auger or an agitator that is capable of supplying toner in a toner accommodation chamber to a developing chamber and is rotatable about an auger axis extending in an axial direction, a transporting gear that is rotatable together with the auger or the agitator, and a moving gear that is in mesh with a coupling gear and is rotatable both counterclockwise and clockwise. The moving gear is movable while being in mesh with the coupling gear between a first position where the moving gear is in mesh with the transporting gear and a second position where the moving gear is out of mesh with the transporting gear. The moving gear moves to the first position when the coupling gear rotates counterclockwise and to the second position when the coupling gear rotates clockwise.
IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
An image forming apparatus includes a developer bearing member, a supply member, first and second voltage application units, and a control unit. Assuming that a difference between a voltage to be applied to the developer bearing member by the first voltage application unit and a voltage to be applied to the supply member by the second voltage application unit in the image forming operation is defined as a first supply contrast, and a difference between the voltage to be applied to the developer bearing member by the first voltage application unit and the voltage to be applied to the supply member by the second voltage application unit in the preliminary rotation operation is defined as a second supply contrast, the control unit controls the second supply contrast to be less than the first supply contrast or to have polarity reversed from polarity of the first supply contrast.
