The second control unit includes an acquisition unit that acquires a parameter relating to the image forming apparatus, and an estimation unit that estimates a plurality of image densities corresponding to tone levels identified by the specifying information transmitted from the first control unit on the basis of the parameter acquired by the acquisition unit and transmits the plurality of image densities to the first control unit.

Disclosed is an image forming apparatus including: a fixation unit configured to heat a toner image formed corresponding to image data and fix the heated toner image onto a recording material; and a control unit configured to determine a fixation target temperature used by the fixation unit to heat the toner image on the basis of the image data, wherein the control unit performs a first determination to calculate a first target temperature on the basis of image density information in each of a plurality of regions in which the image data is divided in a main-scanning direction and a sub-scanning direction and a second determination to determine whether the image data is a text image, and determines the fixation target temperature on the basis of results of the first determination and the second determination.

Online surface resistance measuring of primed substrates to evaluate drying state
Apparatus and methods are provided for measuring the dryness of primer on a substrate in an inline priming system. In implementations, the apparatus comprises a plurality of measurement electrodes spaced laterally to extend across and contact a primed surface of a substrate following application of a primer to the substrate as it is fed through the inline priming system. A resistance measurement unit is provided as part of the dryness measuring apparatus to, in use, measure the surface resistance of the primed substrate between different measurement electrodes across the primed surface of a substrate. A controller is provided in the dryness measurement apparatus, the controller arranged to, in use: receive the measured surface resistance value and to generate, based on the measured surface resistance values, a dryness profile indicative of the dryness of the primer at locations across the substrate in the direction of the spacing of the electrodes.

An image forming apparatus includes: an image forming unit configured to form an image on a sheet based on an image forming condition; an image reader configured to read an image for adjustment of the image forming condition, which is formed on the sheet; and a controller configured to: control, in a case of a job for which printing of the image for adjustment is set, the image forming unit to form the image for adjustment on the sheet, and generate a correction value for the image forming condition based on a reading result of the image for adjustment, which has been obtained by the image reader, to thereby adjust the image forming condition based on the correction value.

Color of an upper portion of the placement portion is represented by using a Y-value closer than the value that represents the white color to the value that represents the black color where the color is represented by using the Y-value that represents the luminance in the YCbCr method such that the object and the placement portion are distinguishable from each other in the image that is captured by the image capturing member.
