A recording material transport system includes a first transport apparatus including a transport unit that transports a recording material and a notification unit that notifies a user about how to deal with a recording material whose transport has been stopped; and a second transport apparatus including a transport unit that transports a recording material transported from the first transport apparatus and a notification unit that notifies the user about how to deal with a recording material whose transport has been stopped, wherein in a case where a recording material has stopped in both of the first and second transport apparatus, the notification unit of the first transport apparatus notifies the user about how to deal with the recording material in the first transport apparatus, and the notification unit of the second transport apparatus notifies the user about how to deal with the recording material in the second transport apparatus.

Image forming apparatus with controlled separation voltage and transfer voltage

An image forming apparatus has an image carrier that carries a toner image; a transfer member that is opposed to the image carrier, a transfer voltage being applied to the transfer member so that the toner image is transferred from the image carrier to a print medium passing between the transfer member and the image carrier; a first voltage application device that applies the transfer voltage to the transfer member; a separation member to which a separation voltage is applied so that the print medium is separated from the image carrier; a second voltage application device that applies the separation voltage to the separation member; a sensing device that senses an image density of the toner image; and a control section that controls a magnitude of the separation voltage based upon the image density of the toner image.

Photoreceptor stripper fingers with an improved profile for ultra-light weight media

An apparatus for stripping light weight and ultra-light weight media from a photoreceptor that is tacked thereto by electrostatic or vacuum force includes a set of low-tip stripper fingers configured to strip the light weight and ultra-light weight media from the photoreceptor. The low-tip stripper fingers are adjustable both in the cross process and in attack angle with respect to the photoreceptor in order to change the height at which the tip of each stripper finger is in relation to the photoreceptor and thereby prevent jams due to miss-strips. Additionally, dual stripper fingers are disclosed that support inboard and outboard edges of larger media in order to reduce dog ears and jams.

Air-based photoreceptor sheet stripper

Printing apparatuses include (among other components) a photoreceptor (that is adapted to contact and transfer marking material to a printing side of sheets of media), a transport belt adjacent the photoreceptor, a baffle, and an air outlet. The sheets of media are moved by the photoreceptor across a gap to the transport belt in a “processing direction.” The baffle is adjacent the back side of the sheets of media (the side that is opposite to the printing side of the sheets of media). The air outlet is also positioned adjacent the back side of the sheets of media, and the air outlet is adapted to direct a stream of air along the baffle and between the baffle and the back side of the sheets of media to lift the sheets of media off the photoreceptor without damaging the sheets of media or disturbing the unfused marking material thereon.

Image forming apparatus having peel-off units

An image forming apparatus includes an image carrier, a first peel-off unit whose end portion is in contact with the image carrier and that peels off a recording medium from the image carrier, and a second peel-off unit whose end portion is not in contact with the image carrier and that peels off a recording medium from the image carrier. The second peel-off unit is disposed in such a way that the end portion thereof is located at a position that is the same as or upstream of a position of the end portion of the first peel-off unit in a rotation direction of the image carrier, and the second peel-off unit is movable so that the end portion thereof moves away from the image carrier.

A protruding portion protruding in a rotation axis direction of an image bearing member is provided at a position between the tip of a separation claw and an apex of the separation claw, when the apex of the separation claw is disposed at a position farthest from the surface of the image bearing member in a direction perpendicular to a straight line connecting the tip and the rotation center of a shaft portion of the separation claw.
